Yes, it’s another one of these posts! But after my recent bouts of sickness and internet finally being fixed enough to play XIV again, I really wanna dive into rp. I’m literally desperate to write stories with people, so I’m making another one of these posts. But, after seeing a REALLY good one (Mine is much, much lamer), I’m gonna go a little more in-depth with it then previously. So, please bear with me, and I’m sorry if it annoys you!

Sarto is a Hyur Thaumaturge of Ishgardian descent. Tragedy not long after his birth caused him to grow up as a thief in Thanalan, until the discovery of his latent Aethric ability at age 12. After the encounter that forever marked him with a glowing red eye, he was forced to move to Ul’dah, where he spent 4 long years surviving by doing much worse than stealing. He managed to escape that life, becoming a prodigal Thaumaturge, before leaving Ul’dah behind him, choosing instead the path of an Adventurer.

Growing in both mind and magical ability, Sarto developed an arrogant streak, which he has yet to tame. A bit of dabbling in various other magical arts has made him a self-declared ‘Archmage’. Despite this, his heart is in the right place. His goals are to learn and gain as much power as he can; he desires naught but peace, cooperation and fairness in the world, but knows that this must be fought for.

He’s passionate about all things magical and scholarly, although his knowledge is far from complete. He’s polite at almost all times, and speaks formally unless comfortable in your presence.

Life of Crime. Ul’dah is a nasty place, full of desperate people. Before breaking free of the shackles of this life, Sarto lived as a thief and worse; doing anything to survive. Were you involved in this period of his life?

Thaumaturges Guild. Sarto spent just shy of a year in the guild, time in which to establish himself as a prodigy and master the art via lengthy and intense training and research. There were other students, teachers, and other Thaumaturge visiting frequently. Were you one?

An Adventurers Life for Me. After mastering his abilities, Sarto set out to make the world better. A vague nothing in the heart of a bitter and naïve child. To do so, he needs to travel, to help people, to become stronger and to learn. On the road, one meets many different types of people in many different locations. Are you one of these?

Seeker of Knowledge. While adventuring, Sarto goes hunting for knowledge and power in any form he can use it. He adores learning, and knows that the more one knows, the more power one has. Knowledge is found in a multitude of places, from libraries to villages and ruins. Plenty of places to meet interesting people, perhaps fellow seekers.

Scions of the Seventh Dawn. An interesting organisation, their obsession with Eikons notwithstanding. Their desire for peace and a better Eorzea attracted Sarto, along with the power they commanded in the world. Though far from strong enough to compete with their heroic champion, he held enough strength to associate with their less-famous ranks. Are you one such Scion, or one of the upper-circle?

Betrayal and Politics. The Scions, betrayed by Alphinauds pet project. Forced to scatter and flee, the upper-circle went into hiding. The less-known of them, still loyal to the cause, seek to root out the traitors and, perhaps, help rebuild the organisation.

The Bitter Cold of Home. Ishgard. Following the events of the betrayal, the Scions fled to the snow-swept north of Coerthas, Sartos motherland. Alphinaud and the Warrior(s) of Light are off fighting to end the Dragonsong War, but the zealotry mess of the city is changing rapidly. Is now the time to avenge his family, to seek justice? Or should his focus be helping to stabilise the city-state, as best he can?

The Empire’s Occupation. Events have forced Eorzeas hand, and now is the time to kick the Garlean Empire back into their own lands. The costs will be high, but the Military might of Eorzea is pushing every day.

Stories to write. My main goal is to write within this beautiful universe, to explore and create to our hearts content. To do so, I need people. Friends, lovers, comrades, peers, rivals, acquaintances, bosses, enemies. I want them all.

The plot ideas listed above are very basic in outline, because I’m happy to flesh them out in whatever way you like (but also, open to like almost any other plot; they’re just rough ideas). I enjoy adventure, slice-of-life, all of it. Dungeon-crawling together? Awesome. Arguing about ancient funeral rights over drinks? I’m there. Sitting on a bench and discussing the current state of affairs? Love it. Teaching eachother various things? Adored.

Seriously; I’m open to nearly any plot. And I want them all, to help me build Sartos character. So please, throw me any and all ideas you may have; I’ll roll with them all.

OOC I go by Ashes, but you can just refer to me as Sarto if you prefer; I know people use IC names OOC a lot, and I’m cool with that.

I RP on Discord, Tumblr and in-game. I’m a UK resident and work full-time hours, so I’m not only free a few hours most evenings, and completely free most weekends. I prefer long-term rp, but I don’t mind writing scrappy little scenes that don’t seem to mean much; it all adds to the story, afterall.

I’m currently in the latter-part of a long-term sickness. I’m easily fatigued, but I’m starting to recover; I beg you to have patience if it takes me some time to get my mojo back.

I’m open to RPing in groups, but one-on-one is, naturally, easier.

I’m super patient, and love to make friends with the people I write with. Though, that’s not necessary; we can just be writing buddies if you like.

If you’ve any issues with how I write, the scene we’re in, anything at all, please tell me; RP is only worthwhile when both parties enjoy it, afterall.

(Please poke me (and/or like this post), I’m terrible at approaching people. v.v)

(p.s. Ask memes. I love asking and answering, so even if you just wanna spam the shit outta eachother with numbers and symbols, lets do that, too!)

With the excitement of a new expansion release, RP is flourishing again and so are promises of new storylines, character building, and even more hopeful interactions. That being said, here’s to hoping I can interact with more of you! People have often said Aelorelle is too immersed in her business, so here’s her attempt at getting out there!

𝓐𝓮𝓵𝓸𝓻𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓮 𝓔. 𝓥𝓪𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓸𝓾𝓻𝓽 A woman remarked as uneasily frayed, several have either admired her unerring calm–or were unnerved by it. Possessed of a wit readily drawn, the “Lady of the Crown” presents a mannerly nature to each she meets, regardless of her (unspoken) opinions of them. Though well-spoken, the half-elezen is mindful not to come across “patronizing” and it is a rare thing that she speaks with contempt. She describes herself as a simple woman who loves her tavern, its patrons, and certain indulgences some would dissuade. She is noted as being vocally appreciative of beauty in all things. But the Crown proprietress is not without fault. Equipped with an addictive personality, she has earned a quiet reputation as a voluptuary to the right listening ears. She works to replace her impulsive “habits” with meaningful relationships, even if she won’t admit she has a problem.
Aelorelle is purposely written as a character that is easily engaged. Wandering Eorzea has created friendships, questionable exchanges, and lucrative business partnerships. Below are several ways she might interact with your character. ► Aelorelle has housed many a weary traveler in the Crown, even if there was no gil to compensate. This is especially true of those trying to get away from a dangerous living situation, offering them work until they could get on their feet and make their own way. She is quietly storied amongst adventurers for this abundant hospitality. ► As mentioned above, Aelorelle has an addictive personality, and this was often exploited. Individuals who profit from peddling illicit pharmaceuticals would know her all too well. She paid through the nose for them at one point in her life, and it’s not outside the realm of possibility that these unnamed people would reach out to one of their best buyers. ► Aelorelle is looking for those intuned with the spirits. There are several loose ends she is not content with.  ► Aside from using her profits for the upkeep of Crown and providing subsistence for employees, she contributes gil to the arts and their practices. Whether a performer or creator, she is largely appreciative of either and is fond of helping individuals pursue these careers. If your character is either, I will happily write her as having seen them, knowing of them, or having a product of theirs. (Minstrels, dancers, painters, chefs, carvers, jewel-crafters, etc.)
► Aelorelle’s aunt, Maevis Vallancourt, is a noteworthy peeress of Ishgard and her wealth only continues to swell for her success in the textile trade. Maevis is a proponent of Ishgard’s changing political landscape, thus supporting the idea of her half-elezen niece living émigré if necessary. Her adoration for her executed brother’s daughter was a point of contention for several Ishgardians.
Friendships, enemies, fragmented relationships and enablers. Aelorelle has her problems, and she’s gotten into some antics in the past that would have certainly made her enemies. It’s as likely that some kind soul took pity on her when her addictions were strongest, that another took advantage. She has her issues, and it’s going to be an angsty ride. But if you’re not up for those themes, that’s totally okay! Aelorelle also appreciates the sweeter moments. Need a heart-to-heart over tea? Sold. Want to show her your character’s collection of stamps or some other hobby? Go for it. She’s the type of woman to remind her friends she has an interest in their interests. This can range from about anything. Does your character want to run from rampaging morbols for fun or some other activity totally dangerous and out of the blue? Again. She’ll be there. Additionally, if your character is a performer (provided they tell her when they’re performing!) she will absolutely try to show up and be supportive. But it doesn’t always have to be something highwire. If you’re about the softer angst, Aelorelle will sit up with an OC nursing a heavy break-up or some other tumultuous period in their life. All in all, whatever is given, I will try to ride with and reciprocate.
I go by ‘Aelo’ or ‘Rosie’! I am an easy-going individual to write with. RP is a hobby first and foremost, and I treat it as much. I RP on tumblr, Discord, google docs and in-game. I might sometimes take a few days to respond. As I also run an FC, I prioritize my responsibilities there. I’m fine with writing little scenes that don’t really go anywhere as much as I am scenarios that are much more engaging. I prefer roleplaying as though our characters already have some backstory together, but I’m open to suggestions as to how they would (organically) meet! I’ve made long-lasting friendships in the few years that I’ve roleplayed and I’d love to continue the cycle. Message me on tumblr and let’s figure things out!

Looking for RP!

As the title says, The Vagrant is now established and looking for RP contacts!

Who is this guy?

Good question; no-one knows! Whispers about the Vagrant have carried on the winds for centuries. Beyond his garb and curious aged tone, he offers very few hints about his identity, claiming only that he is a wandering soul, old enough to have survived the fall of kingdoms.

What kind of RP am I looking for?

Adventure! The Vagrant is a walking quest giver - if you meet him, things are sure to take a turn for the weird and wonderful. From one-shot stories to longer arcs, no corner of Hydaelyn will be left unexplored.

If your character loves travel, magic artefacts, weird monsters or old legends, they’re sure to find something of interest with this guy!

How can you contact me?

I’m available in-game on Balmung as The Vagrant, or on Discord as wanderingwordsmith#1598! Feel free to drop me a line here or there, and we can get something wonderful started.

Submerged

A million voices whispered on currents just out of reach.

He stood at the precipice with his hand outstretched, but his fingers curled in on themselves.

How many times, now, had he listened to that song? The myriad cries of love and loss, of birth and death, over and again...

He shook his head. Focus. Clarity. Calm. Reach into the song - but do not dive. Not yet.

The millions quieted. Then the thousands. Then the hundreds. Then...

Ah.

Just a handful. Just enough for sanity to prevail. A mother and her daughter. One of gods and spirits. A familiar soul in the snowfields. The clash of iron and the screech of wakened magicks most ancient...

He opened his eyes and, with a deliberate lean, stepped from the edge. No wind filled his ears as he plunged into the depths of the Lifestream. No waters rushed to greet him. Only the song - always the song - and the smiling thought that would guide his path.
