PSA re: getting in contact

a heads up! yes, my askbox is still closed while I slowly try to work through a backlog of messages. I'll reopen it once the numbers are down to a manageable number again.

in the meantime I've noticed some people are using the DM system as a replacement askbox, so I've just switched that over to mutuals-only for the meantime as well.

there is a contact form on my website if you need to get in contact with me, but for now I'm still working out the balance of fannish/professional on this tumblr that allows me to keep enjoying the space without feeling like I'm either permanently in 'ask the author and get an immediate reply' mode, or like I'm disappointing people because I'm not reacting with the same speed and casual friendliness that is usual in fannish spaces like tumblr.

so at the moment I don't have the bandwidth for individual replies (& when it comes to headcanons or backstories, the answer is almost always going to be: whatever makes you happy! be free! write fanfic!) while the inbox is still groaning under several months' worth of unanswered asks. watch this space!

quick update for my beloved tumblrites: I just crossed 100k words on the ugly first draft of a book I have been bareknuckle fighting in the dirt for over 2 years now and which is due in uhhhhh 2 weeks. I have forgotten the taste of rain, mr frodo, or whatever. once it's handed in I plan to mainline the entire works of laura kinsale (long story) or do a lymond reread (very overdue) and MAYBE SPEND TIME ONLINE AGAIN. my poor closed tumblr inbox is growing mould on asks that are old enough to walk. veuillez patienter in this my time of trial.

usually when you have a stomach bug your body is like yes sir we'll get this punk out of here, 48 hours tops. then you get a cold and your body is like I dunno ... between a few hours and eleven months ... maybe a week minimum .... you gotta understand we're short staffed

jfhgjggffhgnb darlings I PROMISE you're safe from me on ao3, I am neither reading nor writing fic. I am typing this post with two fingers because my spawn is going through a phase of needing constant amusement and has forgotten what a 'nap' is. I am so, so ludicrously behind on my current book deadline. if I had time to write and didn't use it to work on my novel I think my editor would be contractually allowed to turn up at my house and shoot me.
