(205): Do you know anyone else that comes home with unexplainable injuries as many nights a week as we do?

HE CURLED his arms around her neck, somewhat alarmed by the sudden change in height, peering over her shoulder owlishly. “Um??? I am… five! Five and a half!” Wally holds up 3 fingers for emphasis because he really doesn’t know his own math.

“Wow, you’re getting big already!” She bounces him on her hip lightly. “Well, boobies don’t start growing until you’re about thirteen. You might want to mention it to your mommy if you want to have them, though, so you can start planning for it.”

@licn replied to your post: sb, talking to baby wally: so what did you wish…
“Is that so, honey?”
THE TODDLER slapped his hands onto the table, bouncing in his highchair. “Yeah! Yeah! Big, big boobies!!!”

“I think you’re a little young for that, cutie pie,” Lian laughs, scooping baby(!?) Wally up into her arms. She has no idea what the fuck is happening, but she’s going to guess speedster bullshit is afoot.

Maybe she should call Uncle Barry...

Steph gave a small laugh, rolling her eyes playfully. She remembered getting that speech from Roy right after he was finished congratulating her on her engagement to Tim. “And… there it is.” She shook her head, a smile still painting her lips. She squeezed Lian’s hand. “Of course. You were in my wedding, it’s only fair I help you with yours.”

“Thanks, Stephie.” She squeezes Steph’s hand back and takes a long drink of coffee. She’d started drinking it early in life, but it never seemed to stunt her growth -- Lian likes to joke that she’s genetically predispositioned to enjoy the elixir of vigilantes. “I think I want a coloured wedding dress, if nothing else. Red seems a little on the nose, but I really hate white. It’s impossible to keep clean. I’d end up walking down the aisle with grass stains and no idea how they got there.”

Stephanie took her outstretched hand and looked closer at the ring. “Wait seriously?” She was grinning so wide. “Lian that is so gorgeous. I’m so happy for you, little arrow.”

“I know!” She can’t stop smiling. She hasn’t stopped smiling since Jon got down on one knee and took out that little box. “I mean, marriage is definitely an unnecessary government institution designed to monetize and standardize how we love each other, but I’m still excited. Not sure if we’re gonna sign a legal document yet, but the actual ceremony is definitely gonna happen.” She gives Stephanie a shy look. “We might need help with some of the planning, if you don’t mind getting phone calls every now and again.”

Stephanie had been around Lian since she was a baby. She watched the little girl grow up into an amazing woman, one Stephanie was proud to know. She loved these lunch dates, probably a little too much sometimes. “Hey little arrow. It’s good to see you as alwa-” Her eyes went wide as they set on her ring finger. “Uh, excuse me what is on your finger?”

“What, this?” Lian holds out her hand so Stephanie can see her ring. It’s a white tungsten ring with a single ruby in it. “Jon proposed last night!” She’s really not doing a good job of hiding how excited she is about it.

“HE PROPOSED!” Lian slams into Roy in a hug, squeezing her father around the waist with crushing force. “Okay, technically I proposed and he said yes, but semantics aren’t the point! Daddy, I’m getting married!” Lian grins up at him, unable to contain her joy as she holds up her left hand so he can see her ring. A simple white tungsten band with a single ruby glinting in the light decorates her fourth finger.
