Je suis americaine, et quand quand je traduis du français vers l’anglais, cela a du sens.
Mais, en revers- Je fais beaucoup d'erreurs. Pourquoi?? :(

Very likely that I missed a lot, but I’m mostly going off of the bs I’ve seen from these clowns (China’s included because of the way tankies talk about protesters and indigenous peoples in China; similar reasons for Russia)
and these please
I can’t believe somebody found goofy history posts I wrote in high school or maybe freshman year of college......
I have the sudden urge to be iconoclast and delete it all lol
This was the south of Ukraine.
Bialystok, Poland (by Wojciech Kulak)
Saw Les Miserables live at the Kennedy Center. It was the best production I’ve seen- and the Enjolras was exactly how I imagined him.
Every part was so well casted- the Bishop, Valjean, Javert, Marius, Eponine, Cosette, the Thernardiers. The voice power was incredible- I cried the entire time! It was also really interesting watching this in light of protests in Venezuela, Hong Kong, Cuba, Nicaragua, Belarus, Iran, and other autocracies. These people are giving everything for freedom.
One time a mansplainer on twitter was mad I supported these protests but not a couple xenophobic ones he supported and it’s like- well you are protesting because you dislike a group of people, these people are protesting for democracy. It is totally different and not the same at all
Kinda in love with the idea that different places on other sides of the world can look so similar. Something something universal human experiences

I came to a realization recently that I still struggle to properly articulate but: online leftists who have extremely socialist progressive politics but still think its okay to partake in like doxxing and harassment and other toxic practices are eerily similar to conservative Christians who piously go to church every Sunday but still verbally abuse service workers and leave 50 cent tips
Its that same. I guess. Cognitive dissonance between beliefs and actual behavior. That idea that you are a good person because you believe the correct things which conveniently absolves you of having to be conscious of your own behavior and how you treat people. Its okay that you called your Olive Garden waitress a dumb bitch because she brought you bleu cheese instead of ranch with your salad because you can just pray your sins away to Jesus and still get into heaven. Its okay that you told someone who you didnt like on Tumblr to kill themselves because you have "trans rights are human rights" and ACAB in your bio. Its that same kind of Performance of being a Good Person TM while still deciding its okay to treat the people you consider to be "beneath you" like garbage.
Your beliefs are simply step one in determining your personal character, frankly one of the easier steps. The next and more important step is *how* you, personally, treat the people around you. And frankly, you could have the most progressive politics known to mankind but if you still act like a middle school bully at the most minor percieved infraction then you are not a good person. Full stop.
My toxic European trait is thinking I can understand writing in any language if I just focus hard enough

Please include what language your name comes from, if you know. I'm very curious
As someone who's last name is Polish and Welsh, so like if Europe's two most unpronounceable languages had a baby, this is important to me 😂
I know this place! I pass by it every day- it’s Second Story Books in Washington DC :D
It continues to astound me that westerners will say shit like “yes Russia has done bad, bUt uKrAinE hAs DoNe bAD tHinGS tOo”
The vast majority of people aren’t denying that Ukraine is an imperfect country. The majority of people are aware there are bad parts about Ukraine. The vast majority of people will not deny that there are bad Ukrainians.
Anyone with a brain will know that a the population of a country of around forty million is going to have people who aren’t perfect little saints about it. No I would not be surprised to hear there have been Ukrainian soldiers who committed war crimes; quite frankly I’d be shocked if after all the looting, abductions, tortures, mutilations, rapes, murders, destruction and whatever other horrendous thing the Russians have done I found out not a single person maybe sought revenge for that (and no I’m not saying warcrimes are okay but Jesus Christ use your brain for five seconds. It’s a war, of course not everything will be heroic and nice)
Sure, that stuff will need it’s prosecution in due time, and sure, there’s probably things you could reasonably criticize the Ukrainian government and army for (incidentally, many Ukrainian journalists continue to do so, even in English, but who’s counting)
The thing is that most of you who bring up Ukrainian faults use it to distract from the fundamental reality of this war: Russia is invading Ukraine and committing genocide. The victims of genocide and invasion shouldn’t have to be saints for you to not treat these sides as equal. Because they aren’t.
Believe it or not that applies to the victims of imperialism, colonialism, and war in general. I don’t know why we in the west have this obsession with perfect victims, but it has to stop. Even when we advocate for victims we act as though they were these beacons of life rather than tackling the simple truth that genocide, mass murder, and oppression are simply not justified, regardless of how “good” or “bad” the victims are.
People are flawed, cultures are flawed, so stop with this shit of “who has committed the most sins” so we can get back to genocide being wrong, thanks
Look at our smol happy President. 🥺

Reading that nowadays Latam owes everything to the Spanish conquest is awful, but reading some Latam people wish they had been colonised by the English is... even more twisted??
