How to put “wrote fan-fiction” on your résumé:

Leveraged an inventory of established fictional character and setting elements to generate a disruptive custom-curated narrative entertainment asset.

I worked in HR, handling applications and interviews, and if someone turned in that string of techno babble nonsense, I would have rejected them out of hand.

A resume doesn’t need to sound fancy or overly technical, it needs to tell us why we should hire you.

“Independent novelist/writer” is more than sufficient here. If you want to express the skills that fan fiction taught you, something like, “creative writing, editing, and publication,” will get you a lot further than… Whatever that just was.

A resume should be tailored to the position, if you can afford the time and energy for that. But if not, then just think about what writing got fandom taught you. How to respond to criticism, how to present a professional pubic face, how to correct punished mistakes, creative thinking, project planning, persuasion via emotional leverage, html formatting, office suite fluency.

There are a lot of actual, marketable skills that go into fan fiction.

Writer:

Published short fiction stories for anthology collection
Able to write short fiction within a designated word count for layout purposes (900-1500 words, 1500-2000, 3000-5000)
Wrote short articles for independent publication

Able to check for basic spelling, grammar and syntax

The tea shop is just a ten minute walk away, and Nejire gets there with a spring in her step, humming with excitement. The cashier knows her, and before she even reaches the counter they have a box of Jasmine tea prepared, and she can see a note on it - Mirio must have warned them. When she holds out her hands expectantly, the cashier smiles knowingly, and its with confusion that Nejire reads what she thought would be the next clue.

We come here all the time, so I knew you’d think this was the shop we meant - but we know your real favourite, Nejire-chan. Please meet us there instead - Tamaki.

Like an afterthought, as if someone has prompted him to write it, there’s a scribbled note on the bottom:

PS: We are still definitely kidnapped, help us. It’s very scary.

Nejire laughs, thanking the cashier, who gives her the tea anyway as a gift, and then she sets off again. The subway is packed, and Nejire is recognised by a child, so the journey passes quickly - she asks the child all sorts of questions and is greeted with equal curiosity, her favourite type of conversation.

At the tea shop, a table has been laid for her, a vase with lilies in the middle. Tsuyu and Ochako are sat there, and when she arrives the management pour them three cups of tea.

“You’re in on this too!?” Nejire asks, and Ochako laughs nervously.

“We don’t know much…” Tsuyu says. “Only that we have to help you with your rescue mission.” “Mhm, okay…” Nejire humours them, and the waiter delivers another note, this time in Mirio’s hand.

Having sidekicks won’t help you!!! I still have your friends!!! Next you have to go to the place where we had our first group outing!!! Nejire squirms. “I’m restless,” she says. “I’d rather just meet them than chase all their clues. We had our first trip together at the Butterfly House, but I know they won’t be there now, it closes soon…”

Tsuyu hums, her finger on her lip. “Well, maybe you can guess where they’ll be and skip the clues?”

Nejire finds the card in her locker. She is no stranger to confessions from secret admirers, but this time the amateur doodles scribbled over the top are instantly recognisable, and she is smiling even before she has opened it, looking around to spot the friends that undoubtedly left it behind. There is no one in sight, though, and when she checks Mirio’s locker above hers, she sees that it is empty, his shoes already replaced with his indoor pumps. Nejire pouts. Adventures are fun, but she’d much rather have them with her friends than without them, especially today.

She reads the words with a growing sense of excitement, curiosity burning in her chest as she bounces on the balls of her toes, thinking. There are two places that Mirio could be referring to - one is the tea shop they frequent together, a tidy place close to the school, and the other is a half hour train ride away, much more expensive and saved for special occasions. Nejire has never taken them there before, so surely they must think the first is her favourite?
