her last goodbye
summary: when eliza and alexander come to the future how does the last week go for the four?
a/n: whoops i wrote a pt2 to stars and moons lolol this is mainly eliza and reader speaking so ((:
A loud crash came from outside the small apartment that Lin and Y/N shared. Their daughter looked at her parents with fear, Lin got up and reached for his daughter. She happily got into his arms. Ellie looked at him and pressed her finger against his plump lips as she babbled. He opened the door with one hand and held the small child in the other. He looked out and both way when he saw something he didn’t expect. Eliza and Alexander.
Eliza’s hand was pushing dirt off the old blue ball gown while Alex helped put her hair back. They seemed confused on to why they were here. They haven’t seen them in over a year, so why now are they here?
“Y/N,” Lin said and looked back into the small apartment, she hummed in response but didn’t take her soft Y/E/C eyes from the book that was being held in her hands. “It’s Eliza and Alex.”
This caught her attention. She looked up with a confusion in her eyes. “What?” She closed the book and got up. Her legs sore from chasing the dog and her baby around the park only days before. “They can’t be here.” She laughed and touched Ellie before looking out the door. She looked left.
She then looked left and saw her sister.
She was younger. She looked as if she was just at her wedding.
“She came from the wedding…” It was a whisper that came from her mouth, Lin shook his head. “That can’t be.” He sighed and looked down at his wife. “But it is.”
Alex looked behind Eliza, his brown eyes meeting with Y/N’s Y/E/C orbs. His head tilted, eyes filling with confusion before they filled with realization.
It was the girl in his dreams. He bent down to whisper something before Eliza turned to look at the two people that were staring at them. “It is them.” She whispers while Eliza’s eyes filled with tears. Alex didn’t know who Y/N and Alex was but Eliza knew. How could she forget her own sister?
Eliza ran the best she could before Y/N could. “Y/N!” Eliza screeched as she wrapped her arms around her sister. The feeling of having her sister’s arms around her body made her feel happy. Felt secure.
“Oh God,” Y/N whimpered as tears went and fell from her eyes. “Eliza!” She whispered as they hugged and held onto each other for dear life.
“I missed you..” Y/N whispered, “I missed you!” Eliza repeated.
Alex sat with Eliza in the bedroom Lin and Y/N shared. Y/N was going through the closet to try and find something modern to wear. “How about this?” Y/N pulled out a pair of shorts from a bucket and a shirt with the words ‘Got Hamilton?’ on it.
“What does ‘Got Hamiltonian?’ mean?” Eliza asked when Alex nudged her. Y/N’s mouth opened and closed as she looked for answers. “Okay, not this shirt.” Y/N turned back and grabbed a black t-shirt that only had a gold pocket on it.
“Daddy always taught us to wear dresses,” Eliza mentioned, “Why don’t you wear dresses anymore?” She asked. Y/N looked at her. “We don’t have to wear them as much anymore. We normally wear them to formal events.” Y/N explained to her older sister. Eliza nodded. “Can I wear a dress?” She asked, Y/N nodded and turned to the closet again. She looked at the casual dresses, Y/N pulled a blue dress with little white sunflowers on it. Showing it to Eliza, she smiled and nodded. Y/N sat it aside and grabbed a pair of jeans and a t-shirt from the closet, handing them to Alexander.
Y/N lead Eliza to the bathroom before helping her into the dress. She sat her down once the dress was fitted on Eliza’s body. She took some foundation, matching the colors before dabbing the damp beauty blender onto Eliza’s face.
She was surprised. Right. They didn’t do this then.
“What is this?” Eliza asked when Y/N began blending eyeshadow onto her eyelid. “Eyeshadow.” Y/N told her. She hummed and allowed Y/N to do her work.
Soon they were done and Eliza put her hair up into a bun before walking out to meet Alex.
“You look beautiful.” He complimented her, a wide smile on her face.
You weren’t saying that when you fucked Maria…
Is all that went through Y/N’s head. Y/N grabbed the outfit she had shown to Eliza earlier before going back to the bathroom. She undressed and pulled the shorts up her legs and black shirt down her body before tucking it in. She brushed her hair out and applied makeup before walking out. Her sister and Alex were not in the bedroom anymore, instead, they were in the living room, questioning Lin.
“Okay, so what does this do?” Alex asked and nodded at the television.
“It plays pictures,” Lin answered.
“And those things on wheels?”
“But you don’t have horses.” Eliza piped in.
“I don’t know, America’s weird.” Lin shrugged and sipped on the water that was in his cup as he held Ellie.
“Hey,” Lin smiled when he saw Y/N, he walked towards her and kissed her lips. It was soft and didn’t last long. Ellie pulled away from Lin and swung her arms around Y/N’s neck. Y/N smiled and took her from Lin before she spoke. “Are you guys ready to go?” Y/N asked, Eliza looked at her. “To?” Eliza asked. “To eat and we’re taking little Ellie here to the park.” Y/N’s finger squeezed Ellie’s cheeks as a giggle came from the one-year-old. The two people shrugged. “I guess.” Alex murmured and got up, helping Eliza.
“The food has changed,” Eliza spoke when she and Y/N sat down. Alex was in the bathroom and Lin was playing with Ellie. “You’ve changed.” Eliza whispered, “What?” Y/N asked with a laugh. “I just,” Eliza sighed and looked at her sister, “I don’t know. You seem different.” Y/N shrugged at this. She had changed. Of course, she had, why wouldn’t she?
“I did have a kid…” Y/N trailed before picking up her words. “And I did leave my family.” Eliza nodded. “Yeah.” She whispered before getting up to greet Alex.
“Y/N?” Lin whispered as Y/N turned towards him in the bed. Ellie was on his chest as his book laid on her back. “You know they’ll be taken back, right?” He asked, a soft sigh leaving Y/N’s lips.
She did know, she just didn’t want to accept it.
“Yeah.” Y/N replied as she looked at her husband and child. She didn’t want to watch her sister get torn away from her, but Eliza nor Alexander was made for this world. They were made for the past.
“Are you okay with that?” Lin asked as she moved closer to him, wrapping her arm around him, her fingers interlocking with his as she shrugged. “I don’t know.” Y/N admitted. Lin gave a half smile.
“I’m sorry,” He apologized, she stared up at him before responding with a question.
“I brought you here, if I didn’t you wouldn’t be getting Eliza taken from you… Again.” He explained. Her teeth sunk into her bottom lip.
“It’s okay… I got you and Ellie.” She responded and laid her head on his arm before closing her eyes again.
“I love you,” She whispered before Lin repeated it.
Her finger tapped against the wooden table. She was trying to think of the right words and to do that she had to find herself from years ago. Find herself before Lin or Alex or Ellie or this.
“Y/N?” Lin asked as he opened the door slightly. They had lied to Alex and Eliza about Y/N being sick so she could write one last thing for Eliza.
“Yeah?” Y/N asked and looked up at Lin, the tiredness in her eyes becoming more and more evident.
“I’m going to go out and get you a sandwich, okay?” Lin asked as she nodded. She could see Ellie behind Lin. She wanted to see her mother and did she miss the feeling of her mother’s warmth when she hugged or the way Y/N’s soft lips pressed against Ellie’s forehead before telling a bedtime story. She hadn’t seen her mother as much as usual and it hurt. It did. Lin understood though. She was trying to make something worth remembering. Something that could remind Eliza of her when she’s gone.
“Ellie want’s to see you,” Lin whispered, “Eliza and Alex are asleep.” She nodded and put out her hands, gesturing for Ellie to come in. She did.
Ellie welcomed herself onto her mother’s lap.
Y/N turned back to the desk and gave the one-year-old a piece of paper and some crayons.
Y/N watched as her child colored and babbled, that’s when she began to write.
“Love,” Lin yawned when he woke to the desk light and an empty bed.
Well… Not empty. Ellie was laying on Y/N’s side.
“Y/N,” he had sympathy lacing in his voice, “Yeah?” She whispered as he got from the bed. “What are you doing still up it’s almost-” He was cut off by a yawn as he looked at the clock that was mounted on the wall. “Eleven thirty.” Y/N nodded.
“Come to bed.” He whispered and kissed her forehead.
“I’ll be there in a second.” She muttered.
“Why are you writing like you’re running out of time?” He asked and she closed her eyes when his fingers pushed through her hair. “Because I am.” She responded. Lin nodded as she wrote down a few more words before looking back at Lin.
“Can I read it?” He asked and she shook her head. “Tomorrow, yeah?” He nodded and helped her up before going to the bed. She laid on top of him and cuddled into his chest.
“We’re going to be okay, right?” Y/N whispered and Lin nodded.
“I love you.” Lin whispered when a silence rolled up to them.
My dear sister Elizabeth,
I won’t ever see you again, at least in person. I have the memories and old pictures of us, but I will never be able to touch your face and wipe away your tears. This hurts me, but I know it is for the good of the world. You being here… I do not think that would work out. You had always had an open mind and heart but you always went with what you learned which is amazing, but not well for this world.
This is a world where you fight for your own. We, as women, do not have a role. We are who we are. We have jobs. We have children. We have husbands or wives or none and that’s okay. It is not like it was back then.
I hope you are happy and I know you will be. You are always happy. You deserve to be happy.
I have Lin and Ellie. I love them. I love Lin with all my heart, he is the reason I want to live, even if I do not have you. The same is for Ellie. She is Ellie Elizabeth Miranda. She is named from you, my dear sister. She is the light on my darkest days, as well as Lin. They help me. They are my family now.
You will always be my family but, you will be gone and I hope this helps you remember me.
Now, it’s very late and my child and husband are asleep, and I’m very tired. Thank you for seeing me one last time.
Lin let out a breath before slipping it under the door to the room Eliza and Alex were sharing. This was Y/N’s goodbye. This was the end of her Schuyler story.
