Ok, I know this might not be to everyone's taste, but speaking of non-toxic slow burn romances, I cannot stress enough how this silly show ("The Righteous Gemstones") managed to successfully achieve this with these two bozos (an almost 30 year old virgin televangelist and his dimwitted ex-Satanist friend):
