Okay, prompted by a chat with friends, I put some words into a little rant that might get ignored, might be helpful idk

I’m really sick of this tumblr rhetoric that ‘I can’t be confident like other people so i’ll sit here in my little bubble and do nothing and then be sad about it’. Because, yes you can.

You can learn to be confident. Everyone can put on a face and appear confident. It takes energy and sometimes you can only be around people, keeping it up for a couple of hours at a time. But you have to suck it up and talk to people if you want to exist, and do something.

The thing is, everyone’s heard the phrase ‘Fake it til you make it’. What you have to keep in mind when you hear people talking about this is, you can’t see when people are faking it. You don’t know how many other people are in the same busy crowd as you chanting to themselves, god I wish I was home on tumblr/netflix/with a book/alone. Because they present a smiling face and speak up, you assume they’re confident. And that’s all it takes. You just have to fake it and i promise, almost nobody but you will be able to tell the difference.

You’ll find, with practise, it gets easier.

the point being the final column…

The majority of people who voted Remain have around 70 years left to live with it. Those who voted Leave only have about 20. Funny when how you get older the future doesn’t seem like such a big deal. They kid themselves saying it was for us, but really it’s just to fill themselves up with a false sense of pride. A generation with free education, actual pensions, and the ability to actually own a house.. have decided that a generation with nothing left don’t need to be associated with anyone else but some shouty Etonian men.

Its so funny that a lot of the people that don’t like my opinion on the referendum have blogs dedicated to some form of conservative extremism. I’d have a lot more respect and be open to debate if they were not so obviously uneducated.

Trust me, I enjoy the idea of monarchy and grandeur and legacy - I write about it a lot, I explore those ideas in terms of imaginary universes. But the reality of it is very different. The reality of conservatism is harmful to the growth of new generations for many reasons.

Also, I’m not saying older people shouldn’t vote - I’m saying that they should think more about the future of their children’s generation and not hold on to nostalgic pride for the sake of it (and not rant so much about people with a slight accent or different shade of skin..)

As well as the older generation being the majority for leave, it was also the majority of under-educated parts of the country. So basically it’s an older generation that have no concrete understanding of the world. I suspect they only know the world through day-time TV. Which is exactly what my grandparents do. My grandad is the exact example of what I’m talking about - he’s a racist and an abuser. And he absolutely voted Leave for a confused sense of pride and control.

People of the studyblr\university community, I need your help!

My problem is the following: I’m going to do an Erasmus exchange in an welsh\english university and I’m realizing our university systems are quite different (I’m Italian), so it happens I’m a bit confused ^^’.

For example: what is a course’s level? I’ve got a bachelor degree: does it mean some high leves are precluded to me?
