Jas @mirai-chan77 kindly put this hilarious idea forwards to me: imagine Trevor and L prank calling world leaders together. They'd use phones Watari had designed to keep numbers withheld and blocked. Nancy would be so mad lmao. Quillsh would trying to be Firm™ but gosh it's hard with these two.
Gardening (lol sorry that just kind of came out)
oKAY LISTEN
- Back in the orphanage, Quillish taught him how to garden. L made his own little square of plants he tended to. (Mostly toxins.) Among those things was a variant of nightshade, that turned a shockingly vibrant shade of violet.
- Back in Winchester, he has a sizeable home, with a beautiful landscaped yard in the back. Growing up the side of the brick/stone wall is the same nightshade plant he snipped from his garden back at Wammy’s.
- He goes through so much coffee that he just uses the leftover grounds as fertilizer.
- Owns an incredible amount of books on botany, toxins, and medicinal plants.
- Has extremely rare herb variations, like sometimes brought to him from around the globe by Nancy or Trevor. @jurassiclawliet ;) ;) ;)
- Has five different types of strawberries growing.
- Of course he has a shit ton of poisonous plants. And some of them are really easy to take care of, like the night shade. Because they’re weeds and they grow natively. Even the strawberries are pretty easy.
- He likes the feeling of digging up the soil and watching life sprout, but he simply doesn’t have time for it. There are definitely months where he lets it overgrow, or has to call in a specialist. (Which he HATES doing. Gotta do it himself. That asshole.)
- He even went out of his way to learn Portuguese, just so he could read this weird book Trevor picked up for him on hybrid-poisons from South America.
- Probably sends weird plants to Trevor as a clue to what he’ll get Trevor for Christmas, or when to meet next and where, ect. They send each other plants that have different meanings and they have to figure it out like puzzles.
- One time they both went to Harold’s place during Christmas while he was away on a trip, and personally installed 8,058 poinsettias. I mean in the grass, in the gutters, all along the sides of the house. Floating in the pool. In the house. Every box planter. The gravel driveway is blocked with a literal perfect row of planted poinsettias, and they continue in a line, a complete circle around the entirety of his property. All around the tennis court. They paid off the groundskeeper, who actually helped them.
- His favorite flowers are roses, specifically really fragrant hybrid-tea roses.
- Baked Nancy a really nice cake using edible sugared petals from the roses in his garden, on top of the frosting.
- His favorite tree is Arbutus unedo (strawberry tree)which is native to Western France and Ireland

L can hardly blame the snow. Snow is not sentient, it has no capacity to be so apathetic. It can’t make the decision to withhold gestures of kindness or sincerity. For a while, L truly believed human kindness was a myth, something that could only belong in a distant dream with his mother’s laugh and her gentle touch. That was until Quillsh Wammy wrapped that scarf around his neck and every instinct in L’s gut compelled him to take the man’s hand.

Favourite Movie/Book Genre: Mystery.
Least Favourite Movie/Book Cliche: “The chosen one” - mostly because it makes him feel inferior and jealous because if that were true, then Quillsh has always been that person. He’s always exceeded, always done better in anything and everything they both try to do in the secret service and outside of that.
Talents and/or Powers: Intelligent. Harold is very academic and he’s good with numbers. He is an inventor, and it’s more focused in mathematical, logical things. He works very differently to Trevor. I think he envies Trevor’s spontaneous nature an awful lot. But he doesn’t realise there’s a benefit to being methodical.
Why Someone Might Love Them/Strengths/likeable traits: Harold is extravagant. He is a fantastically warm host, and he offers nothing short of excellence. Yeah he’s pretentious, but he looks after people close to him. He’s also very dedicated to his cause, whatever it is he’s doing he does really invest himself.
Harold likes stability and order. so yeh, he’s VERY organised. if there is a big event coming up, he will make it a priority to have everything in shape and order. He often actually helped plan the EIS meetings. And when Nancy starts the New society many decades later, he actually does try to make an effort in helping her with it. from afar at first, and then also in person later on when he tries to reconcile with her and Trevor.
Why Someone Might Hate Them/Weaknesses: Very self-indulgent, and the extravagance can be a little overwhelming. Harold is… he’s been brought up in an environment where he always got what he wanted. He’s a rich boy who’s never really been told ‘no’ before until he meets the Inventor Squad. Even though he’s filthy rich he’s extremely stingy with his money. He often has ulterior motives, but he believes wholeheartedly in his own intentions.
Harold is quite judgemental on others. He doesn’t look beyond stereotypes much, and he doesn’t try to. He can be a little bigoted as a result.
How They Change: Actually, Harold is one of those people that you get a bit irritated by because whenever you see him he… hasn’t actually changed all that much? It’s kind of incredible in its own way.
SERIOUSLY though. he does change. it takes him a long time. That’s why a lot of people don’t think he really has changed or is capable. Not until after Quillsh’s death does he start to make amends and build bridges back. That kind of is a realisation for him, that he lost a good friend through his selfish actions. That he burnt the bridges he had with his only real friends. He spends the last decade of his life reconciling with Trevor and Nancy. It’s never the same… but nobody expected it would be.
Once his son starts to grow up, his son takes on a lot more of the lotus business. And that gives Harold more time to do other things outside of the business. Which makes him realise this isn’t how he wants to end his days.
Why You Love Them: He’s such an ass omfg. really. Harold isn’t completely aware when he’s being an asshole though. And he really does make an effort with people he likes once he understands what he’s doing. I admire him because he has the courage to say later in life “yes. okay. I did that awful thing and all the rest - and it was wrong. I want to make things better,… but how do i do that?” . it’s a little too late, but it’s a start. and it ends with him at least being back in touch with Nancy and Trevor towards the final years.
Characters: Quillsh Wammy, L Lawliet, Trevor Halloway, Nancy Moore, Harold Lotus Series: Part 2 of Pictures Summary: small unrelated snapshots of moments in the Pictures verse.
Trevor Halloway loves nothing more than impromptu day trips. With little warning, he’ll arrange excursions for Nancy, Quillsh, and in the days when things were simpler Harold, on days out. Of course, the minute L Lawliet enters the frame, he becomes part of it. L seeps into his world so seamlessly. And in turn, Trevor shapes the edges of L’s. It’s no surprise then, that the pair of them often take trips together without the others.
Their outings are never a consistent, routine thing. Trevor’s too spontaneous and unfocused on planning to make it so, and the ever-growing workload of the World’s Greatest Detective would merely lead to constant cancellations and rescheduling anyway. So the set-up is perfect, really.

@kirmishinigamichan messaged after the successor HCs post about The Dispute™ between Trevor and Wammy so here's some more!!! After The Dispute™ in the mid 90s happens (more accurately it is Trevor laying into Quillsh), they don't talk for a few weeks, possibly even months. Living busy lives helps make it feel a bit less strained but it's really a strange time. It's the only time they've ever really had some problems. Trevor feels so bad about what he said. He just feels he can't face Quillsh again, and Nancy comes over to Sort It Out and he's like: " I CAN NEVER RECTIFY THIS. IVE WRITTEN 56 DIFFERENT APOLOGIES OUT ON MY BEST PAPER AND NONE OF THEM ARE GOOD ENOUGH". Meanwhile, Quillsh is getting on with 'Watari' jobs but internally like "I miss Trevor so much but gosh he thinks so terribly of me I have to put it right now. I've written 24 letters and they're all wrong." Nancy is the glue. And exasperated. She even considers calling Harold at some point through this to put on one of his parties they all dislike - just so that Trevor and Quillsh have to join her in escaping the party and face each other. Even L has noticed: "You haven't spoken to Trevor in a while, Watari". He knows once again it's probably got something to do with him but he didn't hear The Dispute™. But he calls Nancy and they both agree it's getting out of hand and something has to be done. Luckily, they don't have to step in: Trevor even talks to Thomas Bradby about it. Bradby can't bring himself to use their quarrel to take Trevor away from Quillsh, despite how much he loves him and is envious of their friendship. He actually does a really nice thing. He calls Quillsh from the states and explains that Trevor is just feeling terrible about whatever occurred. Once hearing that, Quillsh goes to meet Trevor and as soon as they come face to face they just know it's all going to be fine. A few weeks later, Trevor pulls out all of the 56 letters he's written and is like "okay so you can pick one sincere apology letter 31 is the best but letter 15 is my personal favourite" Quillsh then says "you haven't beaten me at smartefact but you bested me here. I only wrote 24 letters." Then Trevor is laughing and has this ridiculous idea where they can keep ALL the letters and exchange their apology letters like some strange and very elaborate trading card game. Everyone is so relieved.
Something the inventors have never been able to agree on is the successor programme. How to respond to L’s genius and success.

Talents and/or Powers: He’s good with numbers. A mathematician. He tries his hand at inventing as Trevor is so interested in it, but his ideas are rudimentary and he struggles to apply his knowledge creatively.
Very posh darling, very posh yah. I don’t think that’s a talent or a power omg but i don’t know where else to put that information.
Why Someone Might Love Them: Precise and intellectual. He works hard and is consistent. Very reliable and dependable. He’s supportive.
Why Someone Might Hate Them: He’s so prim and proper so maybe? Can take things very personally. Modest so downplays his own abilities at times. He can be quite reserved, but I don’t think that’s a reason to hate him. When he’s with Trevor and people he knows he does speak up more, he sometimes comes across a bit frustrated.
How They Change: in their university years, Thomas and Trevor are great pals. He’s a little envious of Quillsh. Because Quillsh Wammy just enters into the scene - Trevor is their mutual friend. Yet somehow, he ends up becoming their mutual friend and out of the circle. It is quite sad. Thomas suppresses a lot of things, including his sexuality and his feelings for Trevor.
When Trevor passes, he does initiate contact with Nancy. Even though they’d never met, he wanted to speak to the most influential woman in Trevor’s life.
Why You Love Them: He’s often overlooked, the underdog. He does rise up and do well in what he wants to do. He’s very selfless and disciplined, but it’s to a degree he doesn’t do much for himself.
i’m proud of him because going to America no matter how scary it was is definitely the decision he ever makes and it’s 100% for himself not anybody else - because otherwise he will forever be living in the shadow of Trevor,pining. Considering how much he doesn’t like change, it’s very brave of him to just dive headfirst into a whole new country and leave it all behind. Thomas is a poignant character, he’s not anything like our inventors. I like that contrast.

What They Would Get Arrested For: Okay real talk i dont want to gloss over this at all, it’s important to mention. Though I have to acknowledge that i am not a POC, and be mindful of this. Whilst it’s awful, yes: Trevor probably was arrested a few times in the 40s-50s for simply being a black citizen in Britain. Throughout his life, he would have been subjected to racism and discrimination.
OC You Ship Them With: He adores Quillsh so damn much, okay? They are pretty much platonic lifepartners it’s lovely. But mmhmm, you see the bond he has with Nancy and it’s so pure and precious.

Talents and/or Powers: Following his father’s footsteps, Trevor went to University. A damn good one actually, he worked hard for it. His specialisms are mostly in engineering. If you’ve read pictures you’ll know he goes to America in 1987 to lecture Engineering Sciences (BUT YOU WOULDN’T KNOW IT’S WITH NONE OTHER THAN MR. BRADBY. THOMAS BRADBY RETURNS YEAAAA!!!).
He assists in making some of the early solar panels, too. Pretty cool, right? Trev is awesome. you should see his inventor sketchbook it’s just so vibrant and every single part of the page is covered in something.
Why Someone Might Love Them: Trevor is infectiously charming. He’s really very special. His energy is contagious too. Trevor is the kind of person who you think “no he wouldn’t do that…would he?” but then “actualLY DON’T JINX IT TREVOR WOULD HE ACTUALLY WOULD”.
He’s so funny??? like his banter is on point. Trevor can just come out with something and have everyone in complete stitches. Even Harold. He’s such a dynamic, compelling person.
Why Someone Might Hate Dislike Them: thIS GUY. this guy can sometimes really struggle to be serious. A huge dreamer, but to the point where he loses grip on reality.
It can be exhausting sometimes to keep up with his mind. He is a little childish.
He and L get on very well because they both share that trait. THEY’RE TERRIBLE REALY. DO NOT PUT THEM IN A ROOM TOGETHER. THEY WILL PLAY STUPID GAMES. They encourage each other. Let’s not even get started on the persona challenges and smartefact.
SO DISORGANISED. Omfg. Go to his room. it’s chaotic. He is a chaotic. Nancy can’t stand it she sometimes cleans up after him and then she’ll leave the room and come back and be like “i LEAVE FOR 5 MINUTES WHAT DID YOU DO IT LOOKS LIKE YOU THREW THE WHOLE BOOKCASE ON THE FLOOR!?!” honestly their dynamic is so wonderful. Quillsh is always so fond of Trevor.

He can be chaotically spontaneous. i’ve mentioned it before Trevor just plans trips randomly and he’ll spring them on the squad like a day before or sometimes even a few hours like “we’re meeting at 12 O’clock at the station bring a suitcase and maybe a jacket” lmao. NANCY. CANNOT. DEAL . WITH . IT. Quillsh enjoys it.

How They Change: … :’( . Trevor really changes in 2004, once L and Quillsh are gone. He is really devastated by the events. He doesn’t go anywhere unprompted, no spontaneous trips. He is a little quieter too, his jokes are more forced. Because the death of his best friend and the young L who he just adores tugs him further from his imagination and into despair. Nancy finds herself arranging trips with him, she puts his needs before hers. Trevor is really glad to have her around, and they form a tight co-dependency on each other in 2004-2010. I guess how he changes the most is that he is more in tune with the world rather than innovation.
Why You Love Them: I love Trevor because he’s truly the image of this vibrant inventor. He loves innovation with such a passion. Trevor is hilarious. He cracks me up so much whenever I think about him. He gets bored pretty easily and likes to shake things up. But he’s also very humble. You may not see it at first because he’s got such a big personality, but the quieter nuances of Trevor are really something to marvel upon. He’s a gem. I just adore Trevor. Nancy is the glue of the Inventor squad, Trevor is the twinkling of it all, the bright star 100%. Without trevor, nothing would be the same, I can’t explain it…. he’s just… the best??? haha. I love Trev. thank you so much for asking about Trevor.

MBTI: ISFJ. did the test for her and I agree yeah. this fits her so well. Lived in: Partridge Green, Horsham, West Sussex (childhood), Guilty Pleasures: salad cream omfg, she’ll put it with everything possible and Trevor thinks it’s really bizarre. Phobias: [N/A]. Least Favourite Movie/Book Cliche: Women bending over backwards for the attention or acceptance of a man, women being sidelined in the action or main protag roles and acting as a the one-dimensional romantic interest.
Talents and/or Powers: Nancy is an inventor, which is how she meets Trev, Quillsh and Harold. She gets her invitation to the EIS society and is really excited about it. Her main talent is with mechanics, this can be a surprise to many. She is totally capable of fixing a car if it breaks down.
In fact, one time Harold’s fancy car broke down and he had no idea what he was doing lmao and Nancy waited for a while and then just took control like “okay please, enough. I cannot let this atrocity continue any longer dear lord.”
But above all in this area she is best known for her work with clocks and clockmaking. She has a fine attentive eye for detail and intricacies. Typography and calligraphy are also passions of hers. Often she’ll design the logo or text for a fellow friend. She goes on in the 60s to start collaborating with artists to present her inventions not just as objects but pieces of art.
Why Someone Might Love Them: Nancy has a wonderful charm about her. She’s incredibly witty, able to quickly cut into any conversation. Very endearing and well-spoken. Her ideas are refreshing, and she is set in her ways. Take it or leave it. She’s very concise with what she says, she doesn’t beat around the bush. Warm and caring especially with people she truly adores.
Why Someone Might Hate Them: Stubborn. A little prideful. Doesn’t like accepting help, fiercely independent despite her close bonds with friends. Likes to be in control and at the ‘front’ of a plan. Unyielding in her point of view. She will fight you on something and challenge something she disagrees with. At times, she can seem a little intimidating. some people are bitter and jealous of her success (( and rejection to their advances *cough* Harold *cough* )).
How They Change: Nancy has always, unknowingly, been the glue between the Inventors. When L and Quillsh ‘Watari’ Wammy die in 2004, Trevor is in ruins. Nancy drops the majority of her exhibitions and cuts down time to spend it with him and be a support.
In 2011, after Trevor passes in 2010, Nancy launches the New English Inventors Society. The society funds and mentors the younger generation of creators and innovators. They meet much more regularly, sometimes even once a month. Nancy takes the young inventors under her wing.
TLDR: I guess how she changes is that she becomes more subtle, she doesn’t smile so much. A little more elusive and sombre. But most of all, she loses a lot of her independence and moments of preferred solitude.
Why You Love Them: she’s so witty and creative. But she’s not that spontaneous, she’s very meticulous and organised. It drives her uP THE WALL when Trevor randomly springs these sudden trips on them all with no planning or thought lmao. Unlike Trevor, who is very much the eccentric dreamer at times and gets swept up into fantastic creative ideas which just aren’t feasible, she is down to earth and grounded in reality.
She’s bright like the sun, so warm. The master of backhanded compliments- but only when absolutely necessary. She cares for the inventors and L. So much.
