Sankta Anastasija is the Ravkan saint of tailoring, patience and creativity. During her life in Ravka, she was a talented Tailor. Her skills were known particularly well known in southern Fjerda, and before long Fjerdan Grisha hunters managed to capture her and brought her to the king of the country. He imprisoned her in a cage by the sea, where Anastasija was sentenced to stay for the rest of her life. However, during the next two years, she managed to tailor herself into a dolphin and escaped from the prison. She was never able to fully recover her human form, and she spent the rest of her days with dolphins by the Ravkan coast, occasionally showing herself to residents of the coast, until one day a fisherman struck her with his javelin.

I felt that pull, the longing of a frightened girl. Even now, after everything he’d done, I wanted to believe the Darkling, to find some way to forgive him. I wanted Nikolai to be alive. I wanted to trust the other Grisha. I wanted to believe anything so that I wouldn’t have to face the future alone. The problem with wanting is that it makes us weak.
