SpiderForest Webcomic Collective Accepting Applications in February Contact:  admin@spiderforest.com   http://spiderforest.com   SpiderForest is an established webcomic collective run for and by independent comic creators for the purpose of community building, audience sharing, convention appearances, and personal and professional growth in comics. Applications for membership are accepted 1-2 times a year and are rigorously reviewed by all available members. For this round of admissions, applications will be accepted from February 1st-24th, 2016, and results will be privately revealed to applicants on March 7th.

Since 2004, SpiderForest has offered a particular niche for webcomic creators who seek to remain independent, but also desire to be part of a tight-knit community of knowledgeable, experienced artists, writers and self-publishers. We are not a business, but instead are run entirely on a volunteer basis with a focus on helping each other grow professionally as we all best see fit.

Science side of Tumblr would like to add:

Heat is generally transmitted in 3 forms: conduction, convection, radiation.

The fact that the telephone poles and wires are boiling away well before the shockwave hits them indicates that the heat from the explosion has not reached them by convection (much slower than the speed of sound) or by conduction (at best, comparable to the speed of sound), but purely by radiation. In other words: the explosion is bright enough to boil everything.

Inspired by Anita Sarkeesian’s Video Game Tropes vs Women, I wanted to pitch a Zelda game where Zelda herself was the hero, rescuing a Prince Link. 

Clockwork Empire is set 2,000 years after Twilight Princess, and is not a reboot, but simply another iteration in the Zelda franchise. It just so happens that in this case, Zelda is the protagonist. I’m a very big Zelda fan, and worked hard to draw from key elements in the continuity and mythos.

This concept work is meant to show that Zelda as a game protagonist can be both compelling and true to the franchise, while bringing new and dynamic game elements that go farther than being a simple gender swap.
