He’d been thinking about that. And honestly, Mitchell hadn’t been able to come up with a decent answer. There was no easy solution, no option that wouldn’t have a grizzly outcome for the girl.

“You can either leave,” he told her slowly, “or stay here. I won’t touch you if you do. I… can’t.” He swallowed. “But this is all there is for you here. If you leave, I can’t guarentee what’ll happen to you. But the option is there for you, Alice.”

She wasn’t sure she believed a word that came out of his mouth. It seemed ridiculous to her that a vampire would willing give up blood and to do it successfully seemed far-fetched, to say the least. Even if she did believe him, she would need a few days to gather her strength and be fit enough to have a chance of surviving out there.
