They absolutely look like that; my fave is the I-10 410 interchange

which has the nice combo of looking like THAT but also you have the ridiculous boom in housing from the baby boom *right there* You can even see the elementary school i went to (on the left, next to the baseball diamond in the private school next door)

Georgia's got a couple of those too! We call this one "Spaghetti Junction". Sometimes I have to use it on my way home depending on if I need to run errands east of my house.

Fun fact: According to a list of traffic hotspots put out by the American Transportation Research Institute, Spaghetti Junction was number 1!

But aesthetically, at least this one looks kinda symmetrical if you squint hard enough. If you wanna see a real doozy, here's where I-20 meets I-75/85, smack dab in the heart of Atlanta.

What's the trope name for when someone finds out they're the Chosen One(tm) and is like "No, thank you" and goes and does something else

Refusal Of The Call is the actual trope name.  Usually followed by the tropes of The Call Knows Where You Live and You Can’t Fight Fate.

The Call is Trying to Contact you about your Destiny's Extended Warranty.

I Blocked The Call's Number, and The Call Got A New Phone And Called Again

Please Help The Call is Stalking Me

I Told The Call To Take Me Off The Call List And Got Laughed At

The Shell Grotto is an underground passageway that was discovered in 1835 in Kent, England. Its winding corridors are adorned with a mosaic of over 4.6 million shells, and to this day, archaeologists have no idea what its purpose was.

Joshua Trees are a weird thing that stayed since the last Ice Age. They're on the decline anyways because no mega mammals eat their seeds and pop them out else where anymore. Hasen't been one around in over ten thousand years but still they persist. Sometimes they thrive in small areas and other times they die out.

Then California decides fuck the Joshua Trees and destroys four thousand of them.

Fuck California. Joshua Trees provide shelter to hundreds of different species.

Cunts.

People asking if there is anything that can be done, YES.

There is a group trying to get this halted but they need to be boosted!

this image is probably the most accurate visual representation of the United States education system

Oh boy.

Do I have a story for you…

So this is the iconic and beloved clock of Moszkva square in Budapest, Hungary. Or more precisely it was.

It was a very popular meeting point for generations.

„2pm on Moszkva, under the clock?” „sure” It was in the middle of the square, so you could see each other pretty easily from anywhere.

When they „renovated” (rebuilt) and renamed the square that is now called Széll Kálmán tér (only by youngsters and tourists who don’t know any better - it will remain for a lot of us „the Moszkva”) the old clock was removed.

So. Removing the clock was very controversial, but it had to go, because someone dreamed about a new shiny one. Here it is. New, and weird and DIGITAL.

The problem is, it stopped working. For days. (you see, fixing it was time-consuming…) And they came and fix it. But it broke down in a couple of days again and again, so the lovely people around helped to fix it. Some of the best solutions:

Graffity: ?Is this a clock? No" and Where is the old clock? Furthermore, on the clock it states that it shows the right time.

An artistic rendition:

But my favorite one is where people got enough of the breaking down abomination, and the heartless people taking down the actually working clocks (it is a very busy square with a lot of public transport connections), and things escalated quickly:

I think this is the most of them we had taped on at once.

The papers state: In memoriam of the unknown time. Rest in Peace

So… I guess, Hungarians do.

Night Vale had some of the BEST one off quotes that would just suckerpunch you in the chest leave you breathless

Like the one that stuck with me was this one:

"when a person dies and no one will miss them, the mourning is assigned to a random human. This is why sometimes you just feel sad."

It's been almost 11 years... It haunts me in a good way

Know what? Tell me YOUR favorite WTNV quote. I wanna know what lingers in people's minds after all this time

“Are we living a life that is safe from harm? Of course not. We never are. But that’s not the right question. The question is are we living a life that is worth the harm?”

“The past is gone, and cannot harm you anymore. And while the future is fast coming for you, it always flinches first and settles in as the gentle present.

"Whisper a dangerous secret to someone you care about. Now they have the power to destroy you, but they won't. That's what love is."

from one of the books:

"Nothing there but a distant airplane crawling across the sky, red blinking lights, vulnerable in the vast empty, faint red beacons flashing the message HELLO. A SMALL ISLAND OF LIFE UP HERE, VERY CLOSE TO SPACE. PRAY FOR US. PRAY FOR US."

Don’t let your parents win at Knowing Things. Demonstrate that you can make butter from something that is not butter, like Jesus did with the wine. He did that to show his dad that he was a big boy now. And so are you.

"The desert seems vast, even endless. And yet scientists tell us that somewhere, even now, there is snow."

i loved this one so much that i put it on my battle vest
