Pairing- Bucky Barnes x F! Reader

Summary- Bucky and Sam are working together with S.H.I.E.L.D. to help make the world a better place. One night they discover a woman with abilities and a history with Hydra.

Note- The events of this story happen post Endgame. POV of story will switch between Bucky and reader and is noted at the start of each chapter. This will be at least a 20 part series.

Part 19- Bucky POV

Sunlight seeped through the sides of the dark curtains covering the front windows of the hotel room. Staring up at the ceiling after a blissful night of sleep, Bucky turned his head to glance down to Y/N’s face resting on his right shoulder, her lips slightly parted while she slept. In that moment, he didn’t think he had ever seen anything quite as beautiful as her peacefully at rest. Afraid to move for fear of waking her, he reached across with his left arm to grab his phone from the table to ensure there were no new updates from Sam. His hope was to savor this morning and not get to the airport for their ride home until the last possible minute. 

Last night had been the most amazing night of his life, yet also the most unexpected. He had only planned to take her to the fair as a last hurrah so that she could enjoy the outside world and the semblance of a normal life before they got back to HQ. The evidence was piling up that whoever was after them was targeting Y/N so she would most likely have to lay low until this was resolved. And he hated knowing that she had already missed so much of her life. He only wanted to see her smile. Make her laugh. See the wonder that gleamed in her eyes when she absorbed the beauty of the world that had tried to break her. 

Bucky grinned to himself as he unlocked his phone screen to see there were no new messages. He placed the phone down again then wrapped his arm back around Y/N’s shoulder. She stirred a little at the touch, then opened her eyes to look up at him.

“Good morning,” he mumbled as he placed a kiss to the top of her head.

“Mmmm,” she hummed. “What time is it?”

“Early.”

“Can we call Sam and delay the flight home so we can just stay here? Maybe like a week or so?” She mumbled, tucking her head further into his chest.

“Only a week?” Bucky chuckled.

“Yeah, I figure that’ll be my threshold for being around you. Move onto someone else after that,” she teased.

Rising to the taunt, he rolled over so that his body was on top of her. Bucky kissed her lips then moved his mouth to kiss along her neck as he mumbled “I might be able to change your mind if you give me a chance you know. Maybe add a week or two.”

One of a kind, carrying a burden never known by other. Or so you though until you met him, Bucky Barnes. Suddenly, you weren’t alone anymore.

Note: This chapter was so good to write. And I mean it. Strong emotions, angst, oh my. I definitely got carried away, but luckily y'all are the best and don't seem to mind it xD Thank you so much Ellie @lokiscollar for beta reading this, ily

“Ouch. That fucking burns.” Angela complained the second Sera touched her skin with a wet piece of cotton. “Do you know how that feels like?”

Sera let out a tiny laugh before slowly shaking her head. “Not really. I mean, I do. But it doesn’t hurt me.”

“Lucky you.”

After leaving that burning forest, Sam decided that it was best for the team to have a break at his sister’s house back in Louisiana. After all, Angela needed to recover and there wasn’t a place where she could and be safe. So without giving her sister a warning, he started to drive the car away ready to leave the fight behind and enter the best place for them right on that moment.

Chapter Summary: Bucky and Sam are still away leaving you and Kobik on your own. Soon, you learn that the two of you may not be as safe as you thought you were. And you learn a little more about how Kobik uses her powers.

“Wait, no!” you exclaimed.

“You have to slide like this.”

You demonstrated the move starting off with the run and sliding down the wood floor sideways.

Kobik giggled.

“You can’t slide forward. That’s how you fall, kid!”

You were teaching her the Tom Cruise slide from ‘Risky Business', and having fun with it for the past hour or so determined to keep going until you both got it down.

She tried again wearing your socks that were obviously too big for her, but perfect for sliding. And once again she didn’t quite get it causing her to fall forward. She would have made full-face plants, but right before she’d hit the floor she’d begin to hover and bring herself back to a standing position. Honestly, you were pretty sure that the falling part was her favourite. You couldn’t blame her. Since she wasn’t actually getting hurt, watching her do it might have been your favourite part too.

The music that you were playing was so loud that you almost missed the sound of your buzzing phone on the table. It was Bucky.

You went to go pause it, but before you got to it Kobik managed to use her telepathic powers to turn it off.

Typical.

“Where do you think you’re going?” A tall man with his deep voice asked while putting his hand on Sera’s shoulder as soon as she walked in front of him with the intention to walk inside the VIP area.

Sera, who had her veins still pounding from her fight with Bucky moments earlier, she moved the man’s hand away and looked at him dead in the eyes. “Dude, I’m not in the mood for this so you better fuck off.”

“Excuse me?”

Sera nodded with a smile. “Oh, you heard me.”

Part 17- Reader POV

Scott cooked breakfast for everyone which was actually quite tasty and the conversation throughout the meal was pleasant. Things took a slightly awkward turn at the end however when Chuck, the house ant, came by to clear the table and startled Bucky again. 

Afterwards, you went back upstairs to grab your clothes from the night before. As you were picking up your still damp dress from the bedroom floor, you felt a familiar heartbeat and turned to see Bucky standing in the doorway behind you.

“Hey,” he greeted you bashfully. “I heard from Sam and he agrees that driving is the best course of action right now. So I was aiming to leave here in about an hour unless you see a reason to stay longer?”

“No, that’s fine. I should be ready in under an hour,” you replied. 

“And, uh, Hope gave me these to give to you so that we wouldn’t have to worry about clothes and stuff for the drive,” he said as he handed over a small duffel bag to you. 

You smiled at him as you took the bag and rifled through it to find pants, shirts, a jacket and some toiletries. Looking up, you noticed Bucky was still wearing a shirt that was very tight and pants that stopped well above his ankles. Teasing him, you asked “What about you? Are you good with the muscle shirt and short shorts look or do we need to get you some clothes that fit?” 

“Scott’s working on getting me some stuff that’ll fit better as we speak,” he grinned back at you.

“Ok,” you chuckled softly as you looked at him, anticipating more to the conversation. Answers to the questions that had kept you awake most of the night. Was the kiss last night the start of something? Was it just the adrenaline leaking over from the incident at the club? Were you being naive and reading into something that wasn’t there? So many thoughts flooded your mind at once, you ended up just standing there speechless and staring.

Finally, Bucky broke the silence as he stepped past the doorway further into the room. “I, ah…last night… It…,” he huffed and seemed at a loss for words himself. You watched as his cheeks grew rosy and he tried his best to maintain eye contact with you. Before he could collect any of his thoughts to say more, you heard Scott yell for him from the bottom of the stairs.

“Hey Big Guy, I got you clothes that’ll fit. You want me to bring them up?” 

Bucky closed his eyes and dipped his head as he called back, “Nah, I’ll be down in a second.” He then lifted his head to look at you with the warmest blue eyes. “I’m going to go change into some clothes that fit better…hopefully. We can talk later?”

“Jayme Jefferson. That’s his name.” Sera said to the poor working girl trying to catch every word Sera was saying.

“Yeah, I know him but he doesn’t work here anymore. He quit three days ago.” The girl said while she was cleaning the counter at the coffee shop. Sera furrowed her eyebrows as she felt her heart dropping to her stomach when the math hit right in her head. “Three days ago?” She asked getting closer to the girl before she slowly nodded, trying to understand what were all the questions about.

“That’s very odd.” Sam said behind Sera which made everyone turn to him.
