People who try to tell me things are ‘not that deep’ fundamentally misunderstand me, I am not a fish desperately in search of the ocean, I am a magpie that roves the canons, searching for shiny things to put in my nest. Whether or not it actually is given deep narrative weight by canon itself is of secondary importance to the fact that it has the potential to be interesting, and thus, I covet it.

No no no, fanfic isn’t digging a hole, it’s planting seeds.

Sometimes the soil is craggy and rough, sometimes it’s fertile and gentle, and sometimes it’s seemingly not even capable of growing plants. Writers take that soil and create beautiful gardens from it.

Fanfic writers look at the gardens of others and think “you know, what if it was different?”. Sometimes they just change one or two things, sometimes they put special emphasis on a specific part of the garden, and sometimes they overhaul the whole thing while keeping some of the basic elements. But in the end, we’re still growing our own gardens, from simple to beautiful.

10 Steps To Care For Your Hamster (long post!)

1. Do not keep them in pairs. Hamsters are loners - keeping them together often results in stress, fighting, injuries and death. They are very happy alone.

3. Your hamster (always!) needs a hamster wheel - and it must be a lot bigger than you might think!

4. Do not buy them plastic tubes (at all): 

Those tubes are not suitable at all: Hamsters get stuck or suffocate in them easily.

5. Your hamster needs enough bedding to dig and build tunnels.

Your hamster will be extremely happy and dig around and build tunnels all day (night). 

A study also found out that (golden) hamsters need up to 12-36 inches of bedding, so just do your best do give them the highest amount of bedding possible. :)

7. Hamsters ALWAYS need a sand bath.

Hamsters love rolling around in the sand, for them it’s like showering. How would you feel without a shower?

9. Do use unperfumed toilet paper for nesting material, don’t use “hamster wool” -> it can tangle around a limb and seriously hurt and even kill your hamster!

10. Never ever ever put your hamster or any animal in a hamster ball. 

They can’t get out, might suffocate or panic, might run against furniture and seriously injure themselves. The ventilation is terrible, your hamster can’t see/smell/hear enough or use any of their senses properly.

Even if you think that “your hamster has fun in it” - please don’t use them!

Kindness to animals includes knowing exactly what your companion critters need, and what can hurt them or make them uncomfortable.

If you’re going to have a pet, care for it correctly.

How to get Riri Williams into the MCU

Since Tony is dead, he can’t really have the mentor relationship with Riri (currently a complete stranger) that he had in the comics, and that is incredibly important for her story to work. And if she was retconned into having an offscreen/unmentioned relationship with him (even though they are currently complete strangers with absolutely no connection), it wouldn’t go down well.

So what if the MCU went a different route?

Riri Williams, niece, goddaughter, and and a much beloved pain in the ass of one Colonel James Rhodes.

Introduce her as Rhodey’s niece in the War Machine TV show that is rumored, and develop their relationship. And suddenly, it’s perfectly plausible that she also knew Tony (because of course Tony is going to know his best friend’s niece/goddaughter).

Riri always looked up to both Uncle Jim and “Uncle Tones”, and when she was a child she had dreams of building her own suit when she grew older. Of working with Iron Man and War Machine. To stand side by side with her heroes.

But then she “died” during Thanos’ snap when she was 9 years old.

And a few days after coming back to the joyful tears of her parents, Uncle Jim came to visit… looking older, more worn, and sadder than she had ever seen him. And without Uncle Tones with him.

And that’s when she learned that Uncle Tones had died to bring her back to life… That’s when she learned that she had a new “cousin” in Morgan Stark…

That’s when she found herself a new dream to work towards.

Standing side by side with her uncle’s and heroes would have been amazing, but now she wants to stand proudly in their footsteps. Now she wants to be their legacy, and stand side by side with Morgan.

And so she builds the suit, not just because she can, not just to show off, not just to prove that she’s as smart or smarter than those around her… She builds a suit so that she can stand strong and proud in Uncle Jim’s and Uncle Tone’s footsteps.

And she calls it the Iron Heart, because into that suit she poured every ounce of love she has for her uncles.

And Morgan? Morgan shares Riri’s dream. But when she builds her own suit, Tony’s last words of love echo in her ears when she gives it a name: Iron 3000.

The Iron Heart and the Iron 3000 standing side by side, making Uncle Jim proud, making the world proud, upholding the legacy of heroes, and proving that anybody can be a hero.

AND THEN WE GET ANOTHER GENERATION OF::
