rick riordan mentioned on threads percy returns to montauk instead of santa monica and i think it's boss.

what belongs to the sea can always return truly gets a double meaning as percy doesn't belong in santa monica - even though be belongs with annabeth in san fransisco but that's for another time - he belongs in montauk. he belongs to that little cabin in montauk where sally met poseidon. he belongs to the place he feels connected to, where his memories lie and where he felt he could be a normal child. maybe even forget about the fact he wasn't as normal in comparison to the other kids.

percy belongs to the sea, and the pearl returned him to his home

but i AM bummed we maybe don't get to see him flying on an airplane or keep up appearances with the press and his sad story about being kidnapped in the books. that was a boss move

luke using annabeth’s fear of spiders to explain how the gods view demigods, some being their own children, was fucked up on so many levels.

and the worst part is luke isn’t even wrong

the gods need them to break the rules for them because they can’t, but being able to break the rules make them dangerous, unpredictable, and they now have to be made disposable.

annabeth saying to percy after the ares fight “and you thought you were just a kid” because percy is finally coming into his own as a demigod and realizing his full potential and power, and then later percy saying to annabeth “just be a kid” because he helped annabeth let go of her blind belief in the gods and her soldier mentality and helped her connect to her mortality… in this essay i will

Something about how Gabe isn’t killed by Sally in the show. Instead, it’s his own disrespect of others that kills him, as shown by how he answered Sally’s phone without ever asking her in the first episode. He doesn’t respect others, and that lack of respect, that lack of understanding, of basic human decency, is what gets him in the end.

”I’ll keep an eye on clarisse” oh god she knew she fucking knew but she couldn’t say anything so she followed them out there and literally threw a dagger at the one person she thought she could always trust who was there for her through so fucking much and Jesus fucking Christ that’s not ok she didn’t deserve that

The warm lighting as Luke holds Percy at sword point because Percy trusts Luke. Luke would never hurt him.

Then Luke later betraying Percy in the very same woods and hurting him with the same sword as the lighting shifts to this ominous dark purple

i could write an essay on how the writers use lighting as a method of storytelling

Okay. Here’s the thing, right

I fully understand the interpretation of the thunder after Sally asks Poseidon if he wants to speak to Percy being Zeus disapproving.

But consider: Poseidon is the stormbringer. Chiron says it at Percy’s claiming (book) “Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses.”

I personally like to think that moment of thunder a physical manifestation of Poseidon’s emotions. That we got to see his internal conflict, his anguish at having to decline. Having to be so close but remain so far from his son.

The thunder wasn’t Zeus’ disapproval, it was Poseidon’s anguish.
