In Loving Memory of Kou
Kou Kokichi was a wonderfully smart and loving bunny that has sadly passed today. I gave him CPR myself but he was already too far gone, gone in his sleep after we couldn’t wake him up and he stopped breathing. The vet said that the bites he had on his genitals probably caused some unseen blockage so he wasn’t able to pee as well as we thought and ended up poisoned from it. He’d been able to get some out but just not enough.
He was so good, he was my baby boy and my first pet that was wholly mine. He was smart and outsmarted me more than once to get his way. He was very affectionate in licking me and yesterday I got to hear him do a bunny purr for the first time. I spent all day with him today, holding him and petting him when he was in pain from trying to pee. I gave him water from a plastic tube since we didn’t want him moving around much and he was so cute grabbing it wanting more even when it was empty. He was cute overall, a little Netherland Dwarf with an attitude and a little old man face.
He’s going to be cremated and returned in an urn so that his body will always be with me, but his spirit will always be missed.
Goodbye Kou, you were such a great rabbit and I’ll always miss you, my baby bunny.
