While doing some digging, found some newer stuff with the updated Minecraft art style. Slotted together, like it was originally made, and the individual panels. Have some Fai, both in standard and in Admin Mode.

Shenanigans ensue as I attempt to write some more profiles for Vincent, Grigori, and of course our Herobrine and Bermu herself haaaa i’ll get these done hopefully soon, working on some updates to the blog aesthetic and updating profiles along the way.

In the meantime, I’m still pokeable!

The cast of the blog enjoying an uncharacteristically mild winter with some shenanigans.

Garret of course sees no reason for revelry and has decided to try to stop it by scolding, unaware that Faiye [in her quiet tree-ish ways] is about to make him join, whether he wants to or not. All the while, Argent is forcing his 'uncle' Vincent to yield in a snowball fight. Germaine was kind of an afterthought, but enjoy her plight against sun and snow regardless.

I might add a followup to this later on, but for now, enjoy the antics of my main crew for the winter while I get bits and pieces of the blog done and set up. Pretty proud that I've finally found a Minecraft style that fits me. Medium is heavy bristol paper with smooth finish, drawn with micron pens, Prismacolor Verithins, Master's Touch watercolor pencils, with some metallic silver and gold for flare.

An Evening

The clouds had finally broken. The day had been dreary beforehand, non-stop rain that had started the night before had been pelting the towers and factories of Quicksilver until now. This wasn’t unusual. The city was situated in a swamp, damp weather was commonplace, but today he was over it. Most of his day had been spent in the grand hall. A Tower meeting was called, to discuss the politics and running of the state. It had started before the sun even rose, much to his dismay, and had carried on without break until now. He had to call for the meeting to adjourn for the day, the other members agreed. Everyone was tired, crabby, and annoyed, barring him for reasons unknown to the rest of the Tower.

As soon as the meeting was formally ended, Frank bolted back to his familial home. Though it was only him living there now, it still held his family’s crest over the door, something deeply rooted in Quicksilven tradition. He checked his clock: 1830, perfect, he had just enough time. He shedded the bulky dress uniform that was required for such high end meetings, slipping on more comfortable clothes. Their colors were bright and bold, in a stark contrast to the grays, silvers, and golds of the dress outfit that he’d worn all too often. He grabbed a few more things, including his Hunter Blade, something he never left home without.

Ruins

Wrote this for a thing, it takes place some time before the upcoming blog’s storyline, so it’s right on time. Had a dream while listening to the song linked, tried to capture the visuals of it and the way it felt.

                               -----------------------------------------------

The chill morning air ruffled the curtains framing the one window in the loft. It would be sunrise soon, and though Faiye had a couple more hours to go, the breeze that rattled the leaves just outside the window already had her awake and alert. A quiver in the pointed tips of her ears, listening in stark silence to the world inside and outside the little cottage she'd built into the mountainside for anything unnatural. She had disappeared into another map in the hopes that her hunting brethren wouldn't find and follow her trail, but there was always that possibility and she was not one to let her guard down. A few more minutes of listening helped her feel more at ease. The creak of the house around her settling against the wind. A rustle of one mob or another outside in the flower gardens. Not a player, too light and skittering. She assumed a rabbit, given its lack of a call. Assuring herself that it was only her and the wildlife, she rose from her bed and strode across the floor to the window. Even in the morning grog, every move was precise and graceful. She cautiously looked out the window, her eyes focusing on the expected culprit of the noises; a rabbit was scurrying beneath her bushes and through her roses just within the circle of lantern-light on the stoop. The tips of her ears shivered again and she was made aware of the squeak of a fox nearby, likely hunting the smaller brown animal now rummaging around in a bed of lily-of-the-valleys scattered in one corner of the yard with a cloud of cornflowers. A pack of wolves were barking in the deeper valley taiga and when she focused her eyes into the still-dark world beyond her cliffside yard, she could see the wavering silhouettes of a herd of cows a little further off. Faiye focused again briefly on the two mobs in her yard, watching their body language. The rabbit was hungrily nibbling away at the cornflower blossoms, unaware of the fox slipping quietly behind it through the rose garden. There was nothing to indicate the intrusion of other parties as the hunt continued and before long, she turned away from the window to descend the stairs to the main floor, her paranoias put to rest.

A slice of bread with cured ham and a boiled egg on top made a brief breakfast, washed down with a cup of boiled cocoa flavored with sugar, mixed into a viscous liquid that had a slightly bitter bite to it. It helped to dispel her mental haze and focus herself. A small squeak muffled through the walls told her the rabbit from before had gotten away and the pittering of foxsteps said the hunter was in pursuit once more. Her plot of land was free from intrusion now.

The East Entrance Gatehouse

The road is narrowest on this mountain, and that is to help funnel traffic toward the gatehouse and East Entrance bridge. The gatehouse controls the flow of traffic over the bridge to where the road widens and leads to the city proper by use of the toll gate, an acacia-wood fence across the road that can only be accessed and activated in the gatehouse.

Visitors must first handle customs to determine the reason for their visit, as well as the inspection and recording of any goods with them, before signing the visitor registry with date and time of arrival. Once all the paperwork is in order, a passcard is handed to the visitor and the gate is lowered to allow them and their party passage. The next step to entrance of the city is at the first junction after the bridge, where it is determined by reason of visit which road to take.

The East Entrance Chimes

The Chimes are made of Nether Quartz and hollowed in such a fashion that striking them with a hammer or other tool causes them to ring. The chamber around them is carved so that it amplifies the sound, making them heard as far as the western outskirts of Yggdrasil.

They are part of the lighthouse keeper’s job, since they live in a position to see returning parties of importance, important visitors, and as an alert for anything hostile, be it weather or people. People living in N’Ra are taught the different tonal combinations and what they mean, so they can properly prepare for anything to come.

The N’Ra Lighthouse

The lighthouse is a familiar fixture in the N’Ran landscape. Travelers and residents alike know that if it remains lit, not only can they find their way back to the city, but all is well and right.

The keeper of the lighthouse lantern lives directly above it for ease of access and upkeep, and they also maintain and can use the as-of-yet-unbuilt quartz tube chimes that announce everything from the time to respected visitors to danger incoming.

The Overlook Cafe; N’Ra

The Overlook Cafe is a small establishment, and the first business in N’Ra proper and the only business set up before the gatehouse into the city itself. It serves a wide variety of drinks and snacks for those waiting in the queue through the gates into N’Ra and has been known to pass out complimentary warm drinks during winter.

It sports a tiered outdoor patio that overlooks the scenery below the mountains, hence the name, as well as offering a fine reminder of the ever-creeping presence that is Bermuda in the wild chunk all-too-close that seems to be growing every day.

I reblog this every time I see it, because the part that makes this so horrific to me, is that the room is a direct callback to Goodnight Moon. It takes this memory of safety and security and turns it directly upside down and I love it.

hey so Emily Carroll is my absolute favorite horror artist and her stories are some of the greatest things i’ve ever had the ghastly pleasure to read. many of her comics are free online, such as the classic His Face All Red

i break into this crazy quasi-hiatus to remind people who arent from before the remake of the blurg: Garret is partial-Vindicator

someone in his lineage introduced a vindicator-illager into the family [he wants to say his great grandmother but he’s not entirely sure exactly as all records of his family were wiped clean when his home village was flattened by a madgod] and due to this, he’s actually related to one of the Houses of illagers somewhere north of bermuda.

despite this, however, generations between him and the one with the illager continued to stay within racial boundaries, so he looks a lot like your normal testificate, save for the clear break in his brow and his eye color.

the rest is all in the personality.
