And a commission from @diggerdagger who wanted himself power-stance-ing with his bass, wearing the logo for his band Sweet Danger 🎸🎵. Thanks again for the commission! (and super amusing that I got two bassist commissions basically right at the same time - this one and the tiefling bassist from earlier!)

Well after that BotW2 trailer i think i can safely say ya’ll best not expect much art from me about that game lol

Alright Nintendo, you’re free to go back to making non-sequels to Zelda games now if your idea of a sequel is “undo the previous victory and do it again”. I’d rather just have it disconnected if we’re going to do the same song and dance. Probably wouldnt be so disappointing if it wasnt for Age of Calamity also being a let down.

Oh well we got Metroid 5 and that looked pretty alright.

The difference a day makes. Or 16 years, in this case.

Its not uncommon for me to redraw old art, but I don’t know if I’ve ever redrawn old comics like this~ Bottom Flavor (I promise it isn’t as dirty as it sounds, its an in-joke) was my first actual comic, drawn during classes in high school of me and my friends in “THE FUTURE”. Actually was pretty long (102 pages), but its like 99% in-jokes that even I barely understand anymore lol. But hey, it’s probably still my longest running comic to date.

Hi i love you and i wanted to ask what your process for digital coloring is? cause i just love your tones they're so pretty<33

Thank you very much! :D That makes me very happy to hear ❤ I have process screenshots of this one piece, so I’ll use it as an example. So, I uuuusssually don’t do lineart. If the initial sketch is, well, way too sketchy, I’ll go over it with finer lines. But in the case of this one, I didn’t bother doing that.

I start with flat colours. Just give a general idea of where I want things to go.

After putting on flat colours, I’ll merge ALL the layers together. So I’ll have a single layer to work with. My process goes back and forth. Sometimes I’ll add shadows before merging and sometimes after. I usually do it after. I get this electric bolt of joy when I work on one layer 😅 There is just something about it that I really enjoy, so I always do that.

For details and finer shadows and tints, I use pretty much all the brushes available (I use Clip Studio Paint). I have favorites, but at this stage I’ll just use whatever brush I feel like would give the effect I want (Goes from my usual traditional pencil brush, flat brush, oil brush, ink, watercolour, anything you could think of). I always start with the face when I add details. Feels like a focal point for me.

I keep going at it until I’m satisfied or decided that’s enough. Aaaaand I’ll call it done! You are never really done until you decide it’s done haha. And this is the finished product :)

Here are some extra mid-process screenshots of painting I have. All of them are after the merging stage.

I hope this was informative! Thank you for the ask, dear anon ❤❤❤

If you have so much time to draw Dindel then why don’t you continue Reign of the demon king?

Hahahahaha, wow, bold!

Indeed, Anon, it is not lack of time alone that keeps me from it. It’s a lack of sufficient interest for the amount of time it would take.

The simple answer is: My steam for Zelda stuff ran out quite a while ago, and the new Warriors game unfortunately failed to interest me, so until BotW2, I’m not sure when it’ll come back, and even then I don’t make any promises on what art I’d produce.

Longer Answer: If I could have the entire story done in a day’s work, I’d probably do it. I have that much interest in it still at least. But not enough to keep me focused for the days or weeks of work it’d take to make it through the entire thing, even as sketchy as it is. And that’s not taking into account going back into BotW and scoping out the locations I intended it all to take place in and getting references (which has been very vague in the first 2 parts, but would be far more specific in the next few). Hell part of me is concerned I’m no longer familiar enough with the characters to portray them remotely accurately. I always did focus on making them doofier for comedy’s sake and the Demon King comic isn’t a jokey story. I’m sure I’m letting folks down (probably 90%+ of my followers were here for Zelda content of some sort), but I’m a doof who tends to just draw what I’m currently interested in which, unfortunately for my popularity, is rarely anything popular if its fanart at all - the BotW thing was kind of a freak accident lol

I do appreciate that people like the story enough to want to see the conclusion, but I will say hassling me for drawing what I want on my own time isn’t the way to do it ;) Assuming you didn’t mean to though, so no hard feelings.

Weird how people ask you to work on stuff for free when your commission info is right there.

Funny enough, most of the people who do commission me have never seen my commission page 😂. Got a feeling because mobile Tumblr doesn’t like showing the page links even if you go to my web page! Suppose I should link it in my bio thing, that at least shows up on mobile~

I don’t need more clothes if I’m not freezin’ and I don’t want a love that I can’t feel I can’t use a dirty lie Just to help me pass my time Love only matters when it’s real
Now I met a man who made a million copper Built himself a mansion up on high He worked hard every day ‘till his strength passed him away Now he sits and watches lovers pass him by
I gave my gal a neck that shined with diamonds Prettiest piece that you would ever find She left it in the drawer when she walked right out my door Turns out all she needed was my time
Now I know you can tell I’m not a rich man 'specs you know that I’m not a rich man’s son But you should run and play Gather roses while you may You can’t buy your time back when it’s done

- Things that Matter by Guy Forsyth [slightly edited for the setting]

A pile of art from after the last Dindel session where she met her elven grandmother~ (which was a little while back now - last session got cancelled)

It was a VERY Dindel-centric session, and had a lot of interesting developments! Of note in particular:

  • Dindel’s elven bloodline goes WAY back, and (nearly) always has various types of divine power
  • Grandmother’s powers were for healing and as a seer - she had forseen Dindel visiting the elven city long ago.
  • Dindel’s great grandfather was a holy warrior using blasty magic like she has (some) access to
  • Dindel’s full name was always Dandelion, but just kinda slurred into Dindelion, or so I thought. But turns out her name in elvish is pronounced “Din-del-leon”~
  • Grandmother was SUPER supportive and loving and proud of Dindel, giving her a sense of belonging and love that she desperately needed - bonus points for being from a female sorceress from her elven side, as she always feared she was a freak and would be an embarrassment to that side of her family
  • Grandmother, sadly, also knew she was dying that night - she was almost 1.5 millennia old at that point, and had been pushing to prolong her life just so she could meet Dindel, so it was bittersweet, but she was also pretty upfront about that from the start, so it wasn’t a surprise either
  • Knowing she wouldn’t get another chance and feeling a bit more self-confident and wanting to share something with her Grandmother that she hadn’t with anyone before, Dindel sang for the first time in the campaign (Which Niles, her bard boyfriend, was pleasantly shocked to hear) This actually involved me singing and I think I near died of embarrassment even after the multiple minutes it took me to work up the guts to do it
  • Grandmother left all her belongings to Dindel, so not only is she not technically homeless for the first time since she was very young, she also now owns an Alchemy lab outside the small hut
  • Dindel also nat-20′d a roll to start figuring out Alchemy from her grandmother’s notes, so that went SUPER well, and boosted her confidence up even higher!
  • Girl’s actually feeling pretty dang good right now, probably the best she’s felt the entire campaign~

Not all sunshine and rainbows though - aside from Grandmother’s passing, she also found out why her mother had abandoned her and her father back when she was 5 or so. That (nearly) qualifier in the first bullet about her elven family always having divine powers? Yeah, her mother didn’t. And didn’t take it well when Dindel started showing that she did. At all. So that’s kind of a bitter pill, but at least now she knows why her dad would always avoid telling her what happened.

Anyway, that aside, Dindel’s got a family legacy to live up to and is gonna go beat the hell out of a green dragon, cuz that’s just the kind of things they do, damnit!

Not that I’m particularly concerned with my popularity or anything, but it’s pretty amusing that thanks to Hyrule Warriors I’m seeing my old stuff Zelda stuff surge again. Been a hell of a long time since I saw that little button go from nothing to 99+. Like, thanks Nintendo I don’t even have to make new art to ride the wave since you made another game with these same characters lol To everyone who’s new: Hi! Welcome! Sorry I only rarely do Zelda stuff these days but maybe I’ll get back on that horse some day!

What if i told you that Riju is a playable character in Age of Calamity?

Pretty cool if true (I haven’t looked up anything about the game since the alternate timeline reveal honestly), but the game just isn’t want I wanted it to be, and you have noooo idea how many Warriors games I’ve played in my day, so the story is really all that the game had to interest me lol

I’ve been hitting X-X-X-X-Y since Dynasty Warriors 2 back in... oh god, 2000?? Now I feel old lol. And so does the Warriors gameplay loop lol. Like I love the series, but it they all feel exactly the same. Whether its Dynasty, Samurai, Gundam, Berserk, Zelda, or any of the god-knows-how-many-others at this point~

I may still pick it up at some point in the future. Hyrule Warriors was still the best of all the Warriors games I’d played (which, again, is a lot) and I’m definitely a fan of the series in general, so it’s on my radar for sure, and if I can play Riju that’s a pretty awesome bonus. But without the “canon prequel story” hook, I’m absolutely waiting to see how bad the DLC gouging is before I really consider buying it, because in the end the gameplay is something I’ve already experienced dozens of times over in the past 20 years, and lord do Warriors games looooove their paid DLC. Don’t know if they have as many characters to cram in there as the first game, but I’m cautious like that. I don’t like it when my $60 purchase suddenly becomes a $100+ purchase

Of course, I’d love to make more doofy comics with those characters, cuz I do love them and the game I’m sure would give me tons of material, but that kinda stuff I gotta do from the heart (Because I’m absolutely terrible at doing things for popularity’s sake lol. Else I’d of never stopped~ ヽ༼◐ل͜◑༽ノ )

Hey everybody. I don’t get into my personal life very often, and I’m not great at putting words to stuff like this, but thursday night my father-in-law passed away suddenly from a heart attack. Thanks to Covid there’s no way for us to get over to Indonesia to attend anything, so me and my wife Kharisma have just been stuck here watching things happen.

He was a good man and raised an amazing daughter, and I’ll be forever grateful to him.

Kay created a GoFundMe to help cover some of the funeral costs, in case anyone would like to donate - all of it is going to her family in Indonesia. Kay is also better at putting words to how great a man her father was, so you can read more about him there too.

We appreciate help you can give, and I know the economy is shot right now so no worries if you can’t. Thank you either way!

Damnit Dindel, that fabric is anachronistic as hell what are you doing?

A friend asked to join me in drawing our D&D characters in the outfit from this twitter post and why not? ヽ༼◐ل͜◑༽ノ

Last session she actually ended up in the complete opposite of this - a mega-poofy princess dress - but that’ll be a post for another day~

Real talk

To get excited about BotW Warriors or wait like two years for the complete edition with all the inevitable DLC so I don’t feel like I bought a half-complete game? That is the question.

Hyrule Warriors was super easy to pass up waiting for a rerelease but this one is actually canon apparently so damnit

The versions that came with all the dlc were ports. Nintendo has nothing else to port to from the switch so just get when it comes out.

It went Wii U, 3DS then finally Switch for the first, and each one added the old dlc and added new stuff like the faries and then cosumes.

I will totally be paying for Sidon or Linkle dlc. Idk how they’d work them in but I don’t fully care I want to play as Linkle again and as Sidon in general

You underestimate my distaste for buying games that feel incomplete without DLC lol

As neat as it is to finally be getting the story of what happened in the Calamity, I’mma have to wait until they announce more to get too interested. Which we’re getting more info soon apparently so here’s hoping it’s good stuff and they break their track record of these games being weirdly disappointing at launch. And god i hope they arent using Dynasty Warriors 9 as a starting point with its “open world” stuff oh god I hadnt thought about that before that game was so garbage…

A (slightly condensed) excerpt from a conversation Dindel and Essmer had last session after Dindel couldn’t fall back asleep after the group was attacked by a horrible bloated undead vampiric thing~

Ever start talking to someone about about their emotional trauma and suddenly accidentally slip into talking about your own because you share the exact same fears? Because Essmer sure has! Thankfully the session prior Dindel and Niles managed to get the first real bits of Essmer’s past out of him - that he’s so far from home because he messed up something fierce with shady dealings and got most of his and his wife’s families killed - so Dindel had enough context to realize when he wasn’t really talking about her anymore.

Most of the time these two butt heads since Essmer shows he cares through tough love while Dindel tends to coddle people, so it was nice to have a more tender moment between the two.

I swear I didn’t go looking for the found family trope but it came for me anyway~!

How’ve ya’ll been, Tumblr folk? I’ve kinda been in an anxiety & depression fueled funk for the last month or two and have barely drawn jack-diddly, so I haven’t exactly been around. Started to feel like myself again the last few days and got back to drawing some stuff from Dindel’s most recent session, so that’ll probably get some sometime soonish. Anyway, hope ya’ll doing well enough during all…. this 2020 bullshit~
