Matilda smiled to herself, glancing to him. “Thank you.” She says genuinely. “I’ll be here the moment it ends.”
Severus went through the rest of his classes as usual. Denouncing points from misbehaving students (mostly Gryffindors) and sneering as much as ever. In the back of his mind, he kept going back to whether he was making the right decision in helping someone so young learn more about Dark Magic.
As supper started to end, Severus headed towards the large doors of the Great Hall, awaiting his student companion.
Matilda was ecstatic throughout the rest of her day, nearly bouncing from class to calss, and nearly skimming her books as she waited for supper to end.
She nearly ran into him as she rushed to meet him. She paused before she could, however, and stood up straight before him. “Professor.” She greeted.
“Miss Wormwood,” he greeted. They made their way to the library. Severus walked in first, telling Pince that he will be escorting a student into the Restricted Section.
“Take your pick, but do not pull them from the shelves yet,” he stated.
Matilda gazed over the shelves in wonder, eyes wide in wonder as she took in the beautiful sight. "Do you ever see something so magnificent that you feel as though you'll spoil it just by being near it?" She asked softly.
this is SO funny
The idea that, if Eleven and Matilda ever met they would be enemies or fight is totally ludicrous. Matilda would take one look in Eleven’s lost, angry eyes, and take her in. She’d be patient and thorough, teaching her new words every day, and they would share chocolates and roller skate and have regular kid fun. Matilda would show her board games but Eleven would insist on cards. They’d both cheat and see who was better at getting away with it. Eleven would teach Matilda how to move larger objects with her powers and be utterly fucking thrilled by the story of revenge on Ms. Trunchbull.
They would be thick as thieves and no one can convince me otherwise.

“Nothing bad.” She assured quickly. “Forms of communication, new spells, necromancy, the works.” She continued with a bit of a grin. “I was kidding with the necromancy, I promise.”
“Hmm. That comment did not work in your favor,” he said.
“I do have a few books with light hexes and some that delve into some theory. See me after supper and we’ll go to the library to get them.”
Matilda smiled to herself, glancing to him. "Thank you." She says genuinely. "I'll be here the moment it ends."
Severus was surprised at how much she had thought it out. “I agree that the scientific method could greatly help the advancement of magic, though as you know, wizards and witches tend to steer away from the non-magical aspects of life.
As for the dark magic, it’s hard to justify studying it without being questioned about the motives behind the learning. You must be careful.”
“Tis a shame, you’d think they’d be in the favor of progress, but they seem to be quite stuck in the past…”
“I will be, I assure you..won’t be corrupting any souls, my own included. I’m sure you don’t get many children interested in such things…and history does prove such interests suspicious, but I assure you my intents are all good.”
Severus pursed his lips. “What exactly are you trying to achieve, Miss Wormwood?”
He’d had students ask him for help with the dark arts before, but he had always turned them away. He didn’t want any to go down the same path he had.
"Nothing bad." She assured quickly. "Forms of communication, new spells, necromancy, the works." She continued with a bit of a grin. "I was kidding with the necromancy, I promise."
