So I grabbed my king and ran away to a land of death, where I reigned and people whispered that I’d been dragged.

Kohaku @ensnaredx

Things could certainly be worse.
Of the odd missions she had be given over the years, prison guard was definitely a new one. It wasn’t even just one of the normal guards, taking watches and patrolling the cells. It was for one specific cell and one specific person.
You’d be hard pressed to find a person in Konoha who didn’t know the name Orochimaru. The Sannin had a…complicated past with the city. Kohaku has been surprised as any to see him show up to the war, Sasuke and their other underlings in tow. But they’d helped, so instead of being killed, the snake sat here.
Behind the bars of a cell that she knew would be all too easy to slip out of.
But that’s why she was there.
Leaning against the opposite wall, facing the cell, she glanced every so often up at the figure, who sat patiently, sitting gracefully like they hadn’t a trouble in the world.
“Are you bored?” She finally asked, speaking up.

The guards seemed to change rather frequently. It was no mystery to the serpent as to why that was. In fact, it had become a game to them, one that had proved fun at first, but tiresomely easy after the fifth change of watch. They would say anything unsettling, unnerving or outright scary, to see how long before their parole would request a different post. With no intention of causing harm or rebelling, and words subtle enough to get away with it being an ‘innocent mistake’ on their part. Yet all the same, it had grown redundant after a while. So when she enters, they barely pay her much mind. Not until she asks them a question none of the other guards had. Simply because most didn’t wish to speak with them human to human. A smile touches their lips, certainly letting the room think there was no place they’d rather be than in here. A front of courage, but also, a true indifference to their detainment. An immortal had plenty time, they could serve it here if it meant they would get their pardon.

“Bored? Now how can I be? Your fellow comrades have been quite amusing to… speak with,” they say, and by ‘speak’ they meant verbally torment. Still, she seems more observant than frightened. A change of pace would be nice. “How long do you think you’ll last before you too wish to run away somewhere safe dear?”

A quick shrug.

“That depends on both of us, I think,” she started, before the slightest of grins started to threaten the corners of her mouth, “we could make it a bet if you’d like?”

Was this against the rules? Not explicitly ~

“I’m pretty stubborn, so I say I won’t at all. I think the other guards are just scared.”

They were pretty big words for someone who hadn’t been face to face with the Sannin without bars in between them.

“What’s your guess?”

Hello, Tumblr! So! I have some updates!

1. I had a baby! This is Ella! She’s 4 months old and a happy little bean.

2. I learned that my husband has been cheating on me for about four months! He wouldn’t even consider trying to work it out for Ella and wants to separate so we’re with my family now and they’re letting us stay. We’re doing alright.

I don’t currently have access to a computer but I’m hoping to get mine in the settlement. My attorney is great so I’m hopeful! Until then, I’ll be on mobile. I’ve really really missed this blog and community and the friends here.

“No! Not at all. I actually prefer it, at least to how noisy and bustling Konoha is,” she admits, “I just remember it wasn’t always that quiet here.”

When she’d first arrived at one of the hideouts, years and years ago now, it was certainly still quieter than Konoha but there existed...different types of sounds. Screams and sparring and the occasional bought of hissing if there was a summon nearby.

“Things have certainly changed, but I don’t think that’s bad.”

She’s no longer in a place she recognizes or knows. There are less...things here. It’s nice and quiet, not like back where they’d come from, people buzzing all over the room. What were they so excited about?

The blanket she’s in is familiar, though. It’s been with her as long as she can remember, and it stays with her as she’s set down, being given free range of the-

Oh. Well, maybe not. A large, scaled thing is here now, keeping her from moving to anywhere that looks more fun than a couch. Tiny hands pat the body around her gently, taking in a texture she’s never felt before. It’s smooth and nice, and she wastes no time laying her head against it in what could be perceived as a hug.
