wild to me too when y’all talk about being inclusive in fics, you leave disabled folks out of the conversation. I get that can be more complex for a multitude of reasons but not once have I seen disabled folks considered in these conversations (and if they exist, please point me to them lmao bc I’m clearly missing them)

any time I’ve tried bringing this up within fandom discourse it’s met with complete silence, too. the least y’all could do is acknowledge disabled folks exist and also read fic lmao not sure why that’s such a foreign concept to some of y’all.

and when I say I don’t expect to see myself/my disability in fic, I mean me personally— I know I won’t see reader with a cane, or any of the health ailments I carry on a daily basis, etc. I’ve accepted it for me, I see ‘reader’ as an OC, even if not completely (though it’d be nice to see that more, but I get it.) I know I won’t find myself 100% in fics. I’m personally okay with that, but I don’t speak for disabled folks as a whole on this topic. some of us in this community might not care at all. some might care on a higher level than I do. all are valid imo!!!

also I’m in no way equating this struggle to any other minority group or trying to one-up anyone. but please don’t preach about inclusivity and completely leave disabled folks out/ignore us when we try talking bringing our input to the table.

we exist in fandom, too.

#one of the reasons I appreciate when people give steve physical issues from his trauma#it’s real and inclusive#but we need more of this for readers as well

Old hair product mixed with sweat ran into your eyes as the shower stream hit you right over the head and… wait. What? You didn’t think you heard that right.

Joe was holding you, because you’d let the surface crack. You didn’t know if it was his repeated asking for you to talk to him, or if it was how he kept looking at you. But you’d cracked, and you’d seen Joe’s eyes flare for just a second, like what he’d been asking for actually didn’t turn out to be what he wanted. Immediate regret punched him right in the stomach when you showed the smallest bit of emotion.

Joe worried about you.

Worried he was pushing you further away whilst he was trying to keep you close.

Worried he had made mistakes too big to rectify.

Worried you were never going to tell him how you actually felt and he’d just have to go off body language, which, you’d been doing that and it had been fine, but some situations called for explanations.
