Coldplay: the Chris Martin aesthetic
“Yeah, I really am [an optimist]. Otherwise I’d just go and jump off a bridge. But even then I’d have a parachute and make it great fun!”
Coldplay performing “Everyday Life” on Saturday Night Live.
“Be kind to each other. We’re in this together. We’re one big band. Everything is possible, if you never give up. And if you Believe in Love.”

guyberryman Brian Eno encouraged us to do much more singing whilst making the Viva la Vida album. It’s a common misconception that Brian is only interested in synthesisers and technology; we were taken out of our comfort zones and put in front of microphones for group backing vocals, which can be heard throughout the record. Here’s the rhythm section giving it a go… I suspect I handed the camera to our old friend, sound engineer and producer @greenius to take this one. 📷: Viva la Vida recording session, The Bakery Studios, 2007
