Cats are so great because they're this small mammal that isn't particularly smart, but if you take one into your home they'll sit you down like "okay, if we're going to be living together, we have to establish some house rules", and then get upset if you don't follow through.

Cats weren't domesticated by force, they met us halfway out of their own free will, on their own terms and on an equal level. Yes, they're dumb as shit. But they make accommodations to living with humans all the time, they know you don't speak cat so they try their best to communicate in ways that you'd understand. They do their best and you do yours, and that's what it's like living with a cat.

It's a valuable warning sign if someone hates cats. It's in your best interest to avoid people who won't make compromises with a creature they could easily crush.

i agree with all of this except for the 'easily crush' thing. you could probably defeat a cat in hand to hand combat but it would take you down with it. it would make every step of the way a nightmare. have you ever tried to give a cat a pill or a bath? they hate that. they are so sharp and so slippery and you are nothing but surface area just waiting for some claws.

cats set boundaries and they will absolutely defend them with violence. don't trust anyone who doesn't think that's extremely cool of them. people who hate cats specifically hate that they can't dominate cats.

you cannot easily crush a cat, no matter how big and strong you are, and that is one of the very best qualities of a cat.
