Persephone feels like she can’t breathe, but air fills her lungs when she hears a deep, nearly demonic voice behind her.

“If you don’t let go of my wife in the next ten seconds, I will snap your fucking neck,” Hades growls, arriving with perfect timing. Prometheus has just unleashed the wrath of the King of the Underworld.

Betty turns her head, tears at the rim of her eyelids, and sees his crimson eyes - there’s a void of obsidian where the whites of his eyes normally are, and there’s smoke pooling on the floor that is billowing from him somewhere.

It takes a moment but Prometheus stubbornly loosens his hold on Betty, and she proceeds to tear herself from the brute’s grip. Hades catches her wrist once she’s free, their two wine glasses in his other hand, and pulls her behind him. Betty’s immediate instinct is to soothe Hades, but she recognizes he’s well beyond that point. He keeps himself between the threat and his wife, and laces his fingers with hers securely, squeezing her hand to assure her that he can and will handle it.

“If you so much as look at my wife again and I’ll castrate you on the spot,” Hades spits. Prometheus scampers away and Hades finally turns to face his wife. “Let’s go outside,” he says much softer, tucking a lock of blonde hair behind her ear.
