Joey and Kaiba are the best literary parallels in yugioh and you can’t tell me they’re not because:

Older sibling entirely in charge of taking care of their (similarly aged) younger sibling because their parents didn’t do it

Desperate to be good at Duel Monsters to the point where they define their worth at least partially on it

Both can be seen as dueteragonists to Yugi’s protagonist

Trash talk a lot and are also saner about a lot of the weird fantasy stuff than Yugi, who has to live it in his head

Both definitely coping with inferiority complexes that Kaiba solves with an endless need for power and control and Joey solves with friendship and making a joke of everything including himself

And the way they go about life really shows this. Kaiba sees his life as a result of his controlled scenarios, manipulation, power gain through fear, and depending only on himself of course he’d be terrified to become joey who has none of those things of course he looks down of who joey has become. Joey feels like he got dealt a lousy hand but grew because of yugi and Tristan and tea of course he resents kaiba for acting as if your connections with people don’t matter of course he regards kaiba as a spoiled brat who doesn’t know his own privilege. They are two sides of the same damn coin and their stories could be reversed so easily it’s scary

there should be an episode of mob psycho where an orchestra somewhere is panicking because their conductor has been killed by an evil spirit and reigan shows up thinking he and mob would exorcise the spirit but mob doesnt show up for his own reasons so reigan calls him while standing in front of the orchestra. Mob doesn’t answer so reigan goes on to leave him a very long voicemail explaining the situation but while hes doing so, all his hand movements make the orchestra think hes the replacement conductor. And so they start playing to his hand movements which results in a shockingly stunning and unique performance from this orchestra. People talk about it forever. It goes down in history as a moment that changed music forever etc etc

Only one man can save France from its lowest birth rate ever.

Image

Dude is furious about the lack of French milfs.

Gonna go deeper than breeder Macron trying to impregnate everyone in france on this one.

A broad decline in overall birth rate isn’t great for a number of reasons but like all things in politics it really depends on what slant you put on it.

The first thing, and probably the part some of you will raised eyebrows over, is whether there’s an ethnic side to him saying this. I’d argue that’s what most people jump to and, while it sometimes has merit, they sometimes don’t consider the other aspects.

Is the government saying: “Is there enough of the ‘right’ people being born? “

Far right parties would come out and say just it.

Neoliberal parties would mask it. Is that what Macron’s doing? I don’t know, given the general vibe of the French government towards immigrant populations, maybe.

The other side is that population decline is a big concern for many governments because if the birth rate declines alongside a decline in immigration, you end up with a bunch of elderly people and not enough people to look after them.

However instead of actually targeting things that would improve birth rate:

  • Improving the general state of *things*
  • Expanding social security and child benefit
  • Doing anything about climate change
  • Raising federal minimum wage
  • A government job guarantee program
  • Universal Basic Income
  • Improving access to healthcare
  • Literally anything

Instead we get governments that say “Please fuck more.”
