Emi. 1995. Argentina. INFJ. Studying History. Once a Honors Student that burned and crashed, so now i'm learning to be an average academic and a little bit more self-compassive. Like a modern-day Persephone, i descend to Patagonia in December and come back to La Plata with April.

How to Take Control of Negative Emotions

1. Don’t take every thought and feeling seriously. Both of those tend to be patterned and habitual. Thus, they are not necessarily accurate and reliable.

2. Don’t blow small things out of proportion. Take control of your thinking and keep things in perspective. Don’t allow yourself to dwell on the negatives, or critical thoughts.

3. Accept that we’re all hit by negative emotions. It’s a fact of life – and is unavoidable.

4. Work on strategies that work for you, and that help distract you from the way you feel.

5. Deliberately think about more positive things – like what is going well, or the things you’re thankful for – then shrug your shoulders and move on with your day.

6. Notice your triggers – the things that bother you, attack your self esteem and your self confidence – so you recognise the patterns and can plan how best to cope.

self care tip: forgive yourself for the mistakes you've made. stop punishing yourself for not knowing then what you know now. you have grown, that's a good thing.

Experiencing burnout in an area you love doesn’t mean you are no longer passionate about that thing, or are any less good at it. It’s often an indication that there are other parts of your life that need your care. A garden looks most beautiful when every flower is watered, and you deserve to nourish yourself in the same way. You will flourish again.

shit dude, here’s to all of the quiet victories. the things that other people take for granted but are so, so hard for you. the way your voice didn’t shake when you ordered your drink, the time you felt a swell of pride at something instead of shame, how you got out of bed after only the second time hitting snooze even though you couldn’t imagine anything more difficult than facing another fucking day. fucking cherish those. relish them, rejoice in them, do not let anyone pluck them from your grasp because they are yours and they are important.

it's all going to turn out alright. you're going to be able to make it through this hard time, and even though it may seem like this'll never end, it will. just breathe and give yourself a little extra love. you can make it through this.
