I see a lot of people talking about what they don’t like when it comes to their fave thing, critiquing and hoping for changes when it comes to new material. Which is fine!

But I’d love to hear some of your favorite things about TLOU!!! Things you love and some positive reasons you’re a fan!

Mine is the story, firstly. The relationships between the characters that are so well fleshed out and complex and beautifully messy. I just love the whole concept of the world and how humans interact with it when it falls apart.

The visuals are stunning and the father-daughter relationship is an unbeatable and heart wrenching relationship to connect with!! I’m so grateful for each actor’s portrayal of the characters (sorry I don’t have show screenshots- these are mine from my ps5)

Just all around such an amazing story that really makes me think about what it means to be a person and what our human connections and love will drive us to do.

Also, it’s just really entertaining. Fun to play and to watch. Can’t go wrong.

I’d love to hear some people’s favorite things about The Last of Us as a whole!!!

@boopernatural this is all thanks to your lovely latest TLOU fic and that sentence of

"He’s happy, she suspects. As happy as a man like him can be in a world like this one. He’s in a nice kitchen, singing along to an old record, making food that’s hearty and fulfilling. It’s about as good as life gets these days." Because since I read that yesterday I have known no peace and just wanted the softest of Joel and both halves of his world!!!!

I had loads of fun adding small details from clothes which show a lot of personality and history. Sarah in her exploration of everything and contractor Joel to then more tuned down colours with the end of the world and all. A Joel who steps back into his caretaker essence meanwhile his goblin child finds weird tshirts and ripped jeans. LISTEN I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT THIS!!!

Holy fuck this is the most incredible and beautiful thing I’ve ever seen!!! Thank you so so much for sharing your incredible art with us!!! So glad you enjoyed my fic ❤️❤️ this literally is about to make me cry!!! You’re phenomenal!

PEDRO PASCAL as JOEL MILLER The Last of Us - "When You're Lost in the Darkness"

There's no reason to push scrambled eggs around so much.

That being said, I love the little intricacies that Pedro gives to Joel's character. He eats with a downturned fork. This is a deliberate choice.

And he carries it through to Joel's habits several years later.

Even 20 years later.

All the way to Jackson.

These little things are so important to me on a weird level. Individually, they're so inconsequential. Together, they make up a whole real character.

listening to fleetwood mac is like. i don’t know this song but let’s give it a shot. oh wait i do know this song. i’ve heard it a million times and always liked it, i just didn’t know the name. on some level i kind of assumed that song was just an ambient part of the world the way the sound of the wind or birdsong in the trees was but apparently it’s by fleetwood mac. neat.

Just learned about garden path sentences.

They’re basically a literary prank– the sentence starts out in such a way that you think you know where it’s going, but the way it ends completely changes the meaning while still being a complete and logical sentence. Usually it deals with double meanings, or with words that can be multiple parts of speech, like nouns and verbs or nouns and adjectives.

So we get gems like

  • The old man the boat. (The old people are manning the boat)
  • The complex houses married and single soldiers and their families. (The apartment complex is home to both married and single soldiers, plus their families)
  • The prime number few. (People who are excellent are few in number.)
  • The cotton clothing is usually made of grows in Mississipi. (The cotton that clothing is made of)
  • The man who hunts ducks out on weekends. (As in he ducks out of his responsibilities)
  • We painted the wall with cracks. (The cracked wall is the one that was pained.)
