"This place is so strange and interesting! You must love living here!"

Ford blinked with a slight blush on his cheeks, as he looked up at the large yet beautiful woman with long pink hair that had just spoke to him. Admittedly she was quite strange and interesting herself, as not many people had a gem on their belly or anywhere else on their body for that matter. He figured right away she had to some kind of being, possibly alien since none of the other human like anomalies he had encountered would have such an item on them.

“Oh, well yes. I mean besides being perfect for my research it is a nice and quiet place when the anomalies aren’t acting up.”

He closed his book, a large one with a golden six finger hand symbol on the cover, that also had a number one painted on it. He had been writing in it while sitting under a tree, something he did when not working on experiments. He adjusted his glasses a bit after that, which along with closing said book showed off the extra sixth finger he had on each of his hands.

@grammarstanley from the ask sent to me a few days back:
Ford walked into the graveyard, he actually had a beard which was expected giving that he went on a voyage with Stan. He had a bag over his shoulder since it hadn’t been long when he got off the Stan O'War II and was looking around the area. “Jane?”
She hadn’t been up to much, more of the same really.  Stanford had given her a quick goodbye and an explanation for his coming absence.  Frankly, she was glad he was safe after all the mess that happened when the demon Cipher ran amok in the town.  She’d been reading a book that she’d asked Ford to bring her before he left.  She heard the gate open, but paid it no mind until she heard his voice.
“Stanford?”  She said excitedly, appearing on the grass in front of her grave.  She set her book aside and rose, running to meet him.  “Stanford!”

Ford got a large smile on his face before running over to the ghost he adored and wrapping his arms around her. She was always on his mind while he goes and he missed her so much. Sure Stan was good company but no one really understood him the way Jane did and it felt good to be with her again.

“I have so much to tell you. All of it will make those adventures I had researching seem like they’re from a children’s show. Though I do believe that you were updated a bit on some of my travels given that I told Fiddleford to inform you on my wellbeing whenever I sent him a letter.”

Still wiping dirty hands on his shorts, the possessed boy made his way towards the Mystery Shack. Things were a bit harder to see, granted that he had on thick sunglasses. Finally, he reached the door and slammed it open. (Bill never did have a quiet way of doing things, did he?)

“Ford! You won’t believe what I found out in the woods.”

Ford who actually took some time off from his work in the lab, jumped slightly in the chair he was sitting in, a book in his hands. He blinked slightly as he took in what he heard. Granted he knew that his niece and nephew would refer to his brother Stan by first name only instead of Grunkle but it seemed odd that he would get this, especially from Dipper of all people who idolized him greatly.

The genius would close his book and set it down on the chair upon standing up before heading out of the living room to where his nephew would be. Upon finding him curiosity grew more inside the author as he knew Dipper didn’t have sunglasses on when he left a few hours ago, along with the fact that the boy hardly wore any since his hat usually did well to shield him from the sun.

“What exactly did you find, my boy?”

Hekapoo nods. “Mhm… But if it doesn’t look like what it use to be… it might be unstable.” She said while moving to get out. “Now… stay close… And you might want to put this on.” She said while handing him a mask. “Since… Humans aren’t exactly welcome here.”

“Well I’m pretty sure it won’t change. My brother doesn’t have the knowledge to change it so there’s nothing to worry about.”

Ford took the mask when it was handed to him and put it on before getting out of the carriage behind Hekapoo. He understood well what she meant. After all there was likely few dimensions where demons would be welcomed.

Hekapoo smiled a bit as she watched his interest go, her flame flickering faintly above her. “It takes a lot of practice… as well as being able to visualize where it is you want to go as where you want to make a portal, so you’ll have to be careful and precise.” She said while glancing out the window as the carriage stopped.

Ford nodded as he listened, taking it all in.

“So if I wanted to get to my dimension I could imagine my lab and it would make a portal that would lead me to there?”

Hekapoo lightly touches the edge of the dimensional portal. “Each portal has a signature… And because I’m in charge of the Interdimensional Scissors and travel, I know each and every dimension and can cut into a specific dimension if I so choose.” She says while holding her hands in her lap, her bangs having fallen over her right eye.

“That’s interesting. Though how would someone else choose?”

This really showed off Ford’s scientist side as learning whatever he can about anything was a pretty common thing for most geniuses.

Hekapoo pulls them out of her hair, letting it tumble down her back as she cut a portal within the carriage on the wall beside her. “Mhm… Cannot be broken or destroyed, and are made specific for each person who earns them.. by me.” She said before putting them away as she puts her hand through the portal before bringing something out from it.  “The Demon King and Queen should know a thing or two about Mind Demons… or at least have a tomb for them.”

Ford rubbed a hand under his chin as he watched and listened to that.

“So how do you know what dimension you’ll be in or how do you get to a certain dimension you want to go to?”

When he listened for the next thing he heard from her, he nodded in reply.

Hekapoo smiles a bit as she looks back at him. “My name? My name is Hekapoo. Enforcer of the Interdimensional Scissor and member of the High Magic Council.” She said while looking at him before snapping her fingers as a fiery carriage appeared along with skeletal horses, lifting her skirts carefully she stepped inside. “Now come on.”

Ford blinked a bit before following her inside the carriage.

“Inter-dimensional Scissor? Are those like the portal gun I have?”

“Valentines Day marks a perfect date to spend time with your lover, but if you love someone you should not have to hold it in until it’s convenient. If you truly admire what Saint Valentine stood for, why not schedule your romantic dinner a week after the fourteenth? Have frequent dates, set aside your work and prioritize the ones you love.”

“I would do so, if I had someone to love in that way.”

Sadly Ford’s attempts at romance were never good and not just cause he had little idea what to do, but cause many women wouldn’t give him the time of day while realizing someone actually loved him went over his head till it was too late. Also having to deal with women trying to be with him to get rich quick didn’t help and of course there was the whole Bill Cipher incident. So yeah, Ford and love didn’t mix that well but he hoped to eventually change that.

fxrger-of-scissxrs:
Hekapoo smiles a tiny bit as she shakes her head a bit as she decided to keep what she knows for now a secret knowing that telling him will only make things worse. “…Let’s go shall we?” She said as the iron gates slowly started to open before them.

Ford nodded his head and walked through the gates with her. As he did so something crossed his mind. She knew his name but he didn’t know hers.

“I’m sorry to ask but could you tell me, your name?”

GRUNKLE FOOOOO—”
He would hear her long before he saw her; Mabel had started calling Stanford’s name when she was still a way off, and the great-uncle was sure to hear it growing steadily louder as she burst into the shack and scampered over to him, clearly in a state of high excitement.
“-OOOOOOOOOORD!”
image
“You’ll never guess what I just found out in the yard!”
Grunkle Ford was into all the weird stuff of Gravity Falls even more than Dipper was, Mabel had gathered. He had to be, if he was the original author; and when Dipper was off on big mystery business elsewhere, that made Ford her go-to choice when she’d found something she just had to share.
Whatever the creature was - and she had yet to put a name to it, though she was already thinking of possibilities - it had clearly liked her; the fact that it had taken a huge bite out of her sweater sleeve was proof enough of that, in Mabel’s mind.

Ford had exited his lab when he heard the familiar call of the name Mabel gave him before jumping slightly at the way his niece entered the house. He watched her go over to him, noting the excitement beaming from her. It always amazed the author on how much she could be like him and his brother at the same time while still being her own person. Mabel was truly a unique girl.

image

“Really? And what would that be?”

The genius took notice at her sweater sleeve and seeing the big chunk out of it made him a bit worried. It was clear that this was another case of not noticing the danger but he really was one to talk given how he always ignored the obvious signs whenever he discovered a new anomaly during his research years, and truthfully he still would do that from time to time.

“Hmm. Now why would I consider you to be like that? Oh wait now I remember. Because you’re so insecure with your lack of power and a physical form that you have to resort to manipulating every human you meet to get your stupid god-complex fix but when you lose that or nothing else goes your way you turn into a child by throwing a tantrum while trying to still prove that you’re better then them but always end up beaten by them, while the one you deem not worth dealing with being the one to outwit you. To add on to that you also end up defeated not once but twice by a twelve year old girl who has shown to be way more creative and smarter then you never could be.”
