📝 observer!venti chases after abyss!lumine: the fic. warnings for sleep deprivation. this is for day ii of @ventimcshipweek! the prompt was contingency plans.
“Observe me,” Lumine once said. Venti takes it as a command. “Keep your eyes on my story, so you can write me in your tales.”
Venti doesn’t know what he’s searching for — a revolution hiding underneath Teyvat, a star lost to time and sleep, the descension of a new cycle of humanity… Lumine knows better than to leave him clues, but he’d like it if she did. 500 years is a long time to decide who he can entrust Teyvat’s future to
But as with all things, still, the winds change directions. The abyss princess is a spider that thrives on reason, but Venti has always been a gambling man. Freedom isn’t won without risk, after all.
He wakes up to a bed of cecilias and a basket of apples.
For a brief moment he sees Lumine — an abyss spider from a faraway place, staring back into his old eyes. Venti smiles, hands outstretched upwards. Celestia is still hanging from the sky, watching over them.
His eyes can’t read the words that pass through Lumine’s lips, but he can read her smile and the hand that tries to reach back to him, caressing the face of the cold statue in place of his own. The winds carry dandelions to his ears with the warmth of her good morning. “Welcome back, beloved bard. Come, the future awaits.”
