It had been.

Painfully slow, but an uneasy sort of normal had started taking shape in Iwao's life again. Akira's steady pace of physical recovery. A return to work. Normalcy. Of a sort. Of a kind. Anything from the outside would absolutely topple it. He knew it. It made him sick to his stomach. He would keep it in tact. He'd keep that peace together no matter what.

Are you going to do anything about it?

The Alley thought about it. It thought for a good long while.

No... Nothing... Not going to do anything...

Lay low... We need to lay low... They could very well cause us problems if they realize we're here... Problems indeed... Bigger than the boy...

Not food... We wish it was.

"hello," a rather small voice gently prodded Eddie from outside the cell. [poorly-drawn-akira]

Eddie seemed caught off guard by the small voice, as his head perked up. "Who's there?"

"did eijiro know what you were going to do to him?"

Sota nodded. He kept playing string games with himself, "that must have taken a while for you to make. you don't have a stand, right?"

"... that must have taken a lot of work, to cure someone from their stand without having your own..."

"It did. Though the cure isn't entirely polished unfortunately."

"i couldn't do something like that, i don't think. that's far smarter than i am," Sota cautiously slipped in little praise. His time in the Enlightenment taught him well

Eddie's eyes glittered at the praise. "Why thank you."

Sota smiled, he nodded, "what exactly was the cure? how the cure got into people, i mean, not what was in it, i don't think i could wrap my head around it."

"It's a gas. A chemical mixture I made specifically to scramble the senses enough to make the stand vanish, but leave the person affected still aware of their surroundings. At least that is the intent, but unfortunately it wasn't perfected."

"what was the issue?"

"Three issues actually. A fair amount of dizziness, and the amount of time that the effects last, which weren't long enough. The third issue was how it affected Eijiro."

"so you hadn't figured out how to make it permanent?"

“Unfortunately no.”

"unfortunate how? surely something like that is better off on a dose, right?"

“It should just be a single dose and then its gone with no problems.”

"... but you said it was unfortunate you couldn't make it permanent."

”It is unfortunate, because the idea behind the treatment was just to permanently end the problem with a single dose with no new problems arising from it. I wanted it to be flawless.”

"but what if Jiro needed his stand back?"

”His stand has done nothing but harm him, so I doubt he’d want it back.”

"right. and eijiro didn't want his stand back either?"

Eddie remained silent as soon as Sota said that.

“I’m fine.”

"... did eijiro not want his stand back?"

“…Yes he didn’t.”

Sota nodded. Welp, "did you know about stands solely from jiro, or did you figure it out on your own?"

”I figured it out on my own.”

Sota nodded, "geez... geez you're smart..."

“I know.”

"what else did you figure out about stands?"

“Some information on stands are still limited to me, but they’re always in some capacity reflective of, and connected to the mind of their hosts.”

“What?”

"nothing, i just never knew that before. thought about it really, i guess"

"Well now you know."

"what do you think... you know about the whole thing?"

"That I don't belong here."

"no. about the other things."

"How stands operate?" He guessed.

"what landed you here."

"As I said before. My thoughts on how I ended up here are that I DON'T belong here."

Sota nodded.

Eddie then proceeded to yawn. "I think that I need to actually rest."

"ah, of course," Sota stood up and quickly bowed, "I'll be back tomorrow."

"Noted." Eddie then immediately lies down onto the ground, back first.

"... i said I'd leave you probably would sleep better on the bed there."

Eddie was out cold at the moment. It appears that several days without sleep have caught up to him.

Sota considered this for a moment. He shut the lights off, using Stuff is Way to lift Eddie onto the cell's bunk, before turning them back on and leaving and immediately getting in trouble for shutting the lights off.
