“As if that int the first time I’ve heard that yin...one..yin is one in Scottish. Don’t get up to high doh!” Merrie stating, lifting the girl with ease, placing her down in front of a secret passage. “Ah found something I thought yeh might enjoy.”The girl knocked on tapestry clad wall of the corridor, the false door pushing in as she ushered the girl to follow. The tight and dark ally lead to a secret room, bright and airy. It was large with blank stone walls, not a single piece of furniture, but that could be changed. It’s as if it had been build to be hidden and found by those worthy of it. “It’s pure magic, int it no?”

ABBA lyrics

Honey, Honey
  • “Honey honey, how you thrill me.”
  • “I’d heard about you before.”
  • “Now I know what they mean, you’re a love machine.”
  • “Honey honey, let me feel it.”
  • “Honey honey, don’t conceal it.”
  • “The way that you kiss goodnight, the way that you hold me tight, I feel like I wanna sing when you do your thing.”
  • “I don’t wanna hurt you, baby, I don’t wanna see you cry.”
  • “I’m gonna stick to you, boy, you’ll never get rid of me.”
  • “There’s no other place in this world where I rather would be.”
Money, Money, Money
  • “I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay.”
  • “There never seems to be a single penny left for me.”
  • “In my dreams I have a plan.”
  • “If I got me a wealthy man I wouldn’t have to work at all, I’d fool around and have a ball…”
  • “All the things I could do if I had a little money. It’s a rich man’s world.”
  • “A man like that is hard to find but I can’t get him off my mind.”
  • “I must leave, I’ll have to go, to Las Vegas or Monaco and win a fortune in a game, my life will never be the same…”
Mamma Mia
  • “I’ve been cheated by you since I don’t know when, so I made up my mind, it must come to an end.”
  • “Look at me now, will I ever learn?”
  • “There’s a fire within my soul.”
  • “My my, how can I resist you?”
  • “Yes, I’ve been brokenhearted, blue since the day we parted. Why, why did I ever let you go?”
  • “I’ve been angry and sad about things that you do.”
  • “I can’t count all the times that I’ve told you we’re through.”
  • “When you go, when you slam the door, I think you know that you won’t be away too long. You know that I’m not that strong.”
Dancing Queen
  • “You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life.”
  • “Friday night and the lights are low. Looking out for the place to go. Where they play the right music, getting in the swing.”
  • “Night is young and the music’s high. With a bit of rock music, everything is fine.”
  • “You’re a teaser, you turn ‘em on. Leave them burning and then you’re gone.”
Our Last Summer
  • “You talked of politics, philosophy and I smiled like Mona Lisa.”
  • “We had our chance. It was a fine and true romance.”
  • “I can still recall our last summer. I still see it all.”
  • “I was so happy we had met.”
  • “It was the age of no regret.”
  • “Underneath we had a fear of flying, of getting old, a fear of slowly dying. We took the chance, like we were dancing our last dance.”
Lay All Your Love On Me
  • “I wasn’t jealous before we met, now every woman I see is a potential threat.”
  • “I’m possessive, it isn’t nice.”
  • “Don’t go wasting your emotion, lay all your love on me.”
  • “It was like shooting a sitting duck. A little small talk, a smile and, baby, I was stuck.”
  • “I still don’t know what you’ve done with me, a grown-up woman should never fall so easily.”
  • “I feel a kind of fear when I don’t have you near.”
Super Trouper
  • “Super Trouper beams are gonna blind me, but I won’t feel blue like I always do, ‘cause somewhere in the crowd there’s you.”
  • “I was sick and tired of everything, when I called you last night.”
  • “All I do is eat and sleep and sing. Wishing every show was the last show.”
  • “There are moments when I think I’m going crazy, but it’s gonna be alright.”
  • “Everything will be so different, when I’m on the stage tonight.”
  • “I’ll be there when you arrive. The sight of you will prove to me I’m still alive.”
  • “When you take me in your arms, and hold me tight, I know it’s gonna mean so much tonight.”
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)
  • “How I hate to spend the evening on my own.”
  • “Autumn winds blowing outside the window as I look around the room, and it makes me so depressed to see the gloom.”
  • “Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight.”
  • “Won’t somebody help me chase the shadows away?”
The Name Of The Game
  • “What’s the name of the game? Does it mean anything to you?”
  • “What’s the name of the game? Can you feel it the way I do?”
  • “You make me talk, you make me feel, and you make me show what I’m trying to conceal.”
  • “If I trust in you, would you let me down?”
  • “Would you laugh at me, if I said I care for you?”
  • “Could you feel the same way too? I wanna know..”

“It’s getting a little easier, but I can only really eat like one actual meal right now, and maybe a few snacks on a super good day, but that’s about it.” Dizzy told her. Merrie was incredibly kind, but her thick Scottish accent was a little difficult to understand, so she always had to pay extra careful attention. “Well, thank you. It’s good that more people over here are starting to like us more.” She smiled, glancing at her pie and hesitantly taking a bite.

“That’s all well! Just like my Granda said ‘Patience, my Lassie. What we desire most comes with planning and fate with a dash of hope.’” The girl advised, mimicking her grandfather’s gruff voice, a king in his own right before the elections. Merrie noticed the look on Dizzy’s face, mentally scolding herself for getting wrapped up in her rant and not trying to keep to english Of course her friends were used to her jargon, but to those who just met her, even if her words sounded common, they were hardly to the untrained ear. “The first four paved the way, but you are gaunnae....that is going to... do that well enough on your own. Speaking for maself, I think all of yeh should have a second change. Yeh certainly can change yer fate.” Merrie reached out taking the girls hand in her own. Immediatly she noticed how small her palm was but could feel every callase, her digits rough from hard work, much like hers had been when younger “Yeh like it?”

“No! That won’t do at aw! Come here, Lass. Ah got plenty of mince pies fer ye to stuff yer gob with. This is yer hame now and here we eat at least three meals a day, plus a nibble or twa in between anaw” Merrie smiled, handing the newest arrival to Auradon Prep a small fruit pie, still warm from there reheat in the oven. The shock of hearing the girl was used to missing meals boiled her blood, causing her to forget to translate her scottish phrasing to the common tonuge. “Jings! That’s awfy….sorry…awful. Is it common fer wee barras to starve on the isle?

“I know you guys do, but sometimes that seems like a lot to me..” She admitted shyly. When Dizzy first arrived in Auradon, she stuffed her face with as much food as possible, only to become incredibly sick over the next few days, so now she was scared to eat too much. But since she had yet to eat at all today, she would allow Merrie to give her some food. “And, I mean… kinda, I guess.” She shrugged. “We all eat what we can, but sometimes it’s still not enough.”

“Give it time. Yeh will get used to it all soon enough.” Merrie took a bite of her own pie, chewing slowly, hesitating to take another bite as she heard of the struggles of the island. A deep breath calmed her anger, but she still was seething. The Scottish Princess did not see the point of punishing the child for the sin of the father or mother, a view true Scots had held to the dawn of time. To know how much oppression there was on the Isle confirmed her desire to see her territory independent. It would be the only way she could help the children who starved much like Dizzy had once. “’Tis  reekbeek! Not aw of us think what they’ve done to the lot of you is right. I’m one of them, always have been. Most of the people of Scotland believe that.” Merrie ensured, finally deciding to finish her pastry.

“Aye, ah love rock music, think it’s pure dead brilliant but i’ll be the firt to admit ah have no musical talent. I’m bloody affy….awful…actually. Naw, My Gran tried very hard to teach me but  ah disappointed her much like me mum did. Ah suppose ah can sing, not sure if I’m any good , but haven’t had any bears show up at me door.” Merrie was happy to talk music with her new friend, but was thrown off by the word play coming into conversation. “Yuptue?….Sorry…That’s scottish slang for “What are yeh up too?…We use a lot of slang in Scotland. Gotta keep our roots strong. To be honest, most of us don’t even speak english at hame. Stick with me long enough and you’ll be talkin’ like a true lassie.”
“It’s aright, I can’t sing, but I do play bass guitar, so I understand a little bit. I got snark instead of singing in the talent department”   Happy to be talking music and lack of musical talent with a new friend. Friends that shared her interest in rock music were rare here, at least in her experience. “It’s alright, I’m not up to a whole lot, listening to music and studying to be a doctor, hopefully, one day. As for the language thing… maybe”

“That’s pure magic. Ah don’t have any rhythm. To be honest, I’m not a well good dancer either.” Merrie was estatic to someone so much like her, having dreaded her arrival at Auradon Prep, having been forced in hopes of rekindling the diplomatic relationships between the kingdom and Scotland, and yet Merrie knew it was all in hopes of forming peace before a referendum. “A doctor? Crivens! Dunno what eh want to be when I’m grown. Mibbe you can help me find my path in life.” Merrie smirked. Her new friend didn’t know it yet, but scottish slang was contagious. Soon enough she was sure Lily would be slipping some of the basic jargon in her everyday life.

“Oh....Sorry.” Merrie looked up at the red haired lad,  quickly finished tying the lace of her boot, which of course decided to come undone again. “My gammie bootlaces are always gettin’ in the way, in more ways than yin...sorry..one...it seems.”

“Only a bawhead doober would think lasses can’t play tourney or fence.  I’ve been handling swords and bows since I could toddle. Eh? yeh fret of getting battered by a girl?” Merrie mocked, standing her ground firmly, refusing to get bullied about by this boy who had proved time an again his ego always got the best of him.

“A Ballhe- What? Was that an insult?” His jaw hung loose, flabberghasted by what he had heard. Chad wasn’t entirely sure what he heard but he gathered that he was just insulted.“Lassies? Girls right. Listen love even if I didn’t have an issue with girls playing Tourney or taking part in R.O.A.R they can’t simple as. Afraid it’s in the rule book.” Lips sticking out in a pout, he shrugged his shoulders, seeming not all that upset by the matter.  “Even if I’m Prince Charming, I’m afriad I can’t change the rules.” Leaning back he shrugged his shoulders, that ever-so signature look of smugness on his face. “I was brought up to not  engage in combat with a Princess, you know etiquette and all, even if she was  speaking out of turn.”
Image

"Aye, rules that were made by men, like everythin’ in this world we have fought. Just remember, only a few decades ago women couldn’t even vote. Fer feck sack, this shouldn’t even be an argument. We ain’t living in the middle ages, even if yeh bampots think so.” Merrie was raging now, disgusted by Chad’s smug and demeaning attitude, and all because she was of the not so fairer sex. But nothing made her angrier than being hinted at be weaker than the boys around her. “Don’t talk to me like a bairn. I may be a girl, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t batter mutter’s like yeh before. Just yeh wait, things are aboot teh change, chief.

“Then we already are aff to a fine start, because ah am not eh pink princess, nor do ah sound like one.” Merrie knew she was practically speaking another language half the time, refusing to give up the phrasing she had grown up with. To be perfectly honest, she didn’t even speak english at home, Gaelic the true language of her people. It was nice to see someone from Auradon who wasn’t the sterotypical royal “Then we shall be radging punks together.”
“Glad to hear it,” Lily nodded, “Hey do you like or play rock music at all?” she asked curiously, but had a slightly different motive, she was hoping to find more members for the rock band she was trying to start. The teal haired punk princess so far hadn’t had much success.
