what are some pieces of media that definitely influenced your writing? books you wish you could read for the first time again OR you wish youd read sooner so you'd have had them stewing in your mind for longer?

I don’t know if I write enough fiction anymore to qualify as a writer! All I write now seems to be work/activism related, and I doubt you wanna hear about  that sort of dullness.  Re. book I would I could read for the first time again or read sooner: The last book I read is the 848 page behemoth The Priory of the Orange Tree and I wish I could read it for the first time again? Because it’s the slow burn epic fantasy we deserve?   I wish I could read the Discworld books for the first time again so that I could wallow in it (even as I desperately wish Pterry were around to help us make sense of our times). Some other books that I have loved come to mind but I don’t know if I would love them as much if I read them now. That’s also why I don’t feel there’s anything I wish I had read sooner - books come to you when they come to you, you know?

Okay but also the context for this picture is great, because these are PRIZES HE JUST WON!

AKA the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for comic literature, for which the winner receives a complete set of Wodehouse novels, a jeroboam of bolly, and a goddamn Gloucestershire Old Spot pig named after their novel (Snuff, in this case).

When I think about it, I should’ve been hanging out with this girl the whole time. I mean first of all, she’s hilarious. She’s so funny. I feel like this summer, I have laughed harder than I have laughed in a really long time. And she’s smart, way smarter than me. You know, she can crack top secret Russian codes. She’s honestly unlike anyone I’ve ever even met before.
