They are pros who having been living together for awhile. Shouto asks what Katsuki wants for his birthday. Katsuki refuses to say anything and Shouto pesters him long enough that he admits that all he wants is to cook them a nice meal and then slow dance together in their living room. Shouto is honestly surprised but agrees and they do that for his birthday.
Dinner happens, and the slow dancing is kind of awkward to start, they argue about who leads and what kind of music to use. Once they establish that Katsuki can lead since it’s his birthday and shouto’s classical can be played, it’s….nice.
As they are swaying together Shouto gets why Katsuki wanted to do it so much. Katsuki mumbles that he knows that this is not expected from him and he knows that Shouto hated the galas and dancing he was forced to go to as a kid with Endeavour. However when he was growing up, occasionally he would sneak out of bed at night and would creep downstairs to see his parents doing that and all he wanted was to do the same with the person he loved.
Shouto is visibly surprised at the story and says while he hated the galas, he always liked the idea of dancing with someone he liked and he’s genuinely enjoying himself and hopes Katsuki is doing the same. Katsuki nods in affirmation and they continue to sway together in a peaceful silence besides Shouto murmuring happy birthday Katsuki.
