Algid part 2
Kyungsoo x reader
Part 1
A/N: So writing with a huge case of writers block isn’t easy, which is why this isn’t the last part of Algid. I think part 3 will be the last one, but I don’t know how long it will be, so we will see. Enjoy!
A rather lonely word, meaning cold, or chilly.
As much as you wanted to ignore it, you were freezing to the point where you could barely feel your fingers; but kept quiet about it, afraid that the handsome stranger who had approached you would decide that maybe it was time to finally call it a day and head home. Opening up to someone like that, just spilling out all your in-prisoned thoughts which you thought had been lost cause since forever; it felt freeing in a way.
Of course, nothing is easy enough to cover up for so long. What could have been a millisecond before your blood froze solid, Kyungsoo noticed your shaking limbs and again, placed his warm hand on your stiff shoulder. An action that made your heart beat so, so much faster than you wanted it to. Oh, how many times you wanted to be able to control your timid heart’s pace, but now...did you really?
‘’-I don’t want you to leave, I... I mean...’’
It came out a little more desperate and hurried than you had anticipated, but you decided to ignore the embarrassment that seemed to swallow you whole after you had let your impulse take over. You looked down for a second, awaiting his denial. But when nothing came, you looked up.
Kyungsoo, the oh-so ethereal and selfless man who had sacrificed so much of his time to you, a complete stranger, was just smiling. Even under the very vague light of the moon, you could see that he had a very beautiful smile. One which made your algid state of mind warm up, which made soft and tingling butterflies spread their wings in your chest. But as much as it was genuine, it lacked in confidence, it never really reached his constantly tired and quite droopy eyes, and you just knew; that man could not have smiled often.
‘’Come’’ was all he said, taking a light hold of your wrist and pulling you up from the bench. ‘’Where are we going?’’ as much as you trusted him, the man was just a stranger, after all. He, however, just looked back at you once again, with that same endearing smile.
Oh, how you are something.
‘’You were right, it is a lot warmer in here.’’ You said it with a warm smile on your lips, relieved that your savior hadn’t grown tired of you just yet. The waitress in the coffee shop soon arrived with your orders and left you alone.
‘’Right? I go here whenever I’m in need of a pick-me-up.’’ Ah, so it was a familiar place to him.
‘’Are you in need of a pick-me-up right now? I mean, is this why you brought me here?’’ You admit that it came off sounding a bit like an accusation, even though the question was based solely on curiosity.
‘’No, but I figured that maybe you are.’’ He laughed softly and looked into your eyes for a second, before turning towards waiter to wave.
You nodded to his statement, even though he was wrong. With Kyungsoo by your side, you didn’t feel like you needed anything else to keep you awake.
Hours flew by yet again, even faster than before. It was clear that both of you were tired and exhausted from the deprivation of sleep that followed, and to your surprise, you were the first one to hint at calling it a day.
‘’It’s dawn... oh gosh, I didn’t even notice the time!’’ You looked out through the window by your seat, and then back to Kyungsoo’s sleepy form.
‘’Yes, even though talking to you has been a true pleasure, I agree that it may be time to go home for some sleep.’’ He yawned and stood up from his seat. You wanted to do the same, but one feeling lingered, which made you sit unmoved. Would you just forget about each other now? Would you back to being strangers? Did you want that? The air, strangling you more than providing your lungs oxygen tugged at your heart, with heave suspense hanging low on your shoulders.
‘’Can I have your number?’’
