Our fandom is made up of 30 people, half of whom have the other half blocked, so I'm an idiot for even addressing this. But since this continues to be posted publicly, I'm going to set my record straight—MY RECORD. I'm not speaking for anyone else, and no one else can speak for me. None of us are mind readers, no matter how much some seem to believe they are.

Back in April, a creator posted commissions of Bryce Lahela and Keiki Lahela in which the two AAPI characters were whitewashed. I interacted with this post in two ways: I ❤️-ed and commented on it from my personal blog. Also, I was the mod of CFWC at the time and I reblogged it there as part of the Choices Fics/Art of the Week. When I realized what I had done, I posted an apology here without solicitation.

Girl, I got blocked and I never interacted with the art at all. From what I have seen, people who issued public and sincere apologies were still blocked and had their apologies mocked. WoC were blocked. This whole thing was a dumpster fire. If bringing awareness of the issue was the goal then people saying....oh! I didn't realize what I had done until you pointed it out but now that I see it, I get it and I'm so sorry.... And then correcting their behavior in the future is the exact outcome one would want from such a thing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel a factor that largely contributes to the lack of success for self published authors is the general readers' growing lack of appreciation for literature.

Most readers, and publishers for that matter, now only look at a book's tropes and marketability rather than the actual writing and plot. Tropes were created as something that would help us easily find the perfect read, and yet they've now become something that defines a book.

The saddest part is we've not only lost appreciation for good writing but developed an aversion to literary comprehension.

People now seek to completely cut down on description and 'painting a scene' or character development and jump straight into the action. Prose is now seen as 'boring filler chapters' while the fight--the chase, the action, are highlighted. It's like going to a museum and complaining about how old everything is.

We've become impatient, unappreciative readers who care little for the emotional nuances of a beautifully crafted scene.

The genre that is most heavily impacted by this is romance. Romance used to be such a beautiful, emotionally evocative genre and now it's just watered down to its trope. People use romance as a way to escape from reality and fantasise about fictional men, which is acceptable, sure, but by doing so they've completely forgotten how to appreciate a book and its story.

Have your dark brooding morally grey love interest but also consider what makes him so. Rather than seeking a venereal connection with the character, look for an emotional one with the book and its beautiful prose and writing.

This is also why readers nowadays often complain about 'mainstream' authors not being that talented. This isn't because there aren't any talented authors with beautifully crafted books out there, it's because you're so caught up in a book's tropes and popularity you fail to acknowledge its true beauty, because by doing so you would recognise there are many other, unappreciated, novels that deserve that platform.

In the beginning, there was the spirit realm and the mortal realm, and the gods saw that it was good.

In the spirit realm lived all the Elohim, the most powerful of which was Yatsar, who created the mortal realm. Yatsar was the supreme ruler of the mortal and the spirit realm, which together were called Asteria.

Yatsar’s brother, Abaddon, chaffed under Yatsar’s rule. He believed himself to be more powerful than his brother and refused to follow any instructions outside his own.

There was a great war, which rent the spirit realm asunder. The Great War was followed by the Great Divide.

Unable to co-exist and unable to defeat each other, the brothers divided the spirit realm into the Heaven Realm and the Hell Realm. One-third of the Elohim followed Abaddon to the Hell Realm, taking the power of darkness with them, and they called themselves demons. Most stayed with Yatsar in the Heaven Realm, claiming the power of light for themselves, and they called themselves angels. But a few disappeared from the spirit realm entirely. Scattered across the mortal realm and the In-Between, these missing immortals became known as The Fallen.  

Yatsar stripped the darkness from his angels, and Abaddon stripped the light from his demons.

The Treaty of Concordia decreed that the balance between heaven and hell, light and dark, angels and demons, must always be kept.

And so it was for millennia.

Until something unleashed an ancient power capable of unraveling it all.

Ahh, love this already! I know you said you modelled this prologue on the Bible, and this whole 'saw that it was good' is excellent! 👌

Ooooh! Interesting twist! Personally, I have always hated the Lucifer story for the fact that because he had a disagreement with God, he was cast out and fell from Heaven (makes God out to be a vindictive asshole in my mind). But this Fallen cohort makes sense - bc not everyone would choose a side if this kind of thing happened in real life.

Yes, there are definitely a handful of immortals out there that were just like nope! This is dumb.

I want to say so many things but I don't want to give all the spoilers so I'm going to shut up.

I am so torn between working on the next chapter of all that she wants, the first chapter of this and the first chapter of melting point. 🫣

Ooh tough choice… I’d say do it all but I know that unrealistic 😅 if it helps at all my personal preference is this one 😇

Another negative test.

How? It had been 6 months since she’d first set her sights on Drake. They had been sleeping together regularly ever since.

Frequently even.

Disappointment and disbelief were the first emotions. She had conceived Ellie on her honeymoon with Liam. Xander had taken only two months of trying.

Frustration and relief were an odd combination, revealing her conflicted motives. Her original goal of procreation was being thwarted, and that was frustrating.

Huh... Either, there is something wrong, or this is her body's way of telling her that she doesn't actually really want/need a baby...? What I'm saying is that I am curious about the reason (if there is one! 😆)

The black bullet proof SUV from the royal fleet pulled down the long, twisting driveway toward its destination. The driver glided the vehicle to a stop in front of the entrance to the centuries-old Nevrakis stronghold.

Liam stepped out into the brisk air. Summer in Lythikos was invigorating, the air holding just a slight chill as opposed to the impenetrable cold that took hold of the place in the deep of winter.

There was an explosion of colors in the spring and no oppressive heat to kill the blooms off through the summer. The vibrant pinks and purples of the native flowers would last until the first frost. He had always loved it here in the summer.

I love it too, by the sound of this!
