if you start watching star trek season 1 episode 16 “shore leave”  at exactly 11:59:33 pm on december 31st, kirk will say “dig it in there mister spock” as the clock strikes 12 and i think that’s truly the gayest way to start 2018

today at goodwill i found a kirk/spock au where kirk is a lowly redshirt

Okay no but this book.

Do you know how fucking long I hunted for a copy of the first edition of this book? I can’t remember the specifics, it’s been ages since I read it, but in the first edition it had some line that was basically confirming Kirk/Spock that was removed after the first printing.

oh my god are you telling me i found a piece of fandom history and i had no idea

I AM BACK AT GOODWILL AND IT’S STILL HERE AND IT’S A FIRST EDITION WITH GAY STUFF???? IT’S A DOLLAR?????? I’M

it starts out with wholesome hand-holding and boyfriends worrying about each other

they’re in an au now and kirk is an angry ensign with a drug problem

“being the top felt weird and wrong”

SOMETHING STIRRED INSIDE HIM

no matter the universe kirk can’t keep his shirt intact

THIS IS WHERE SHIT GETS REAL Y’ALL I CAN’T

THE MIND MELD IS BARELY EVEN A METAPHOR

KIRK WAS ASKING FOR IT

aaaaaaaaaaah

this is the best dollar i have ever spent and yes that includes bearllionaire

I’d heard about this as some sort of fandom urban legend - everyone heard about it, no one seemed to have hard copy. Nobody was sure if it was some unpublished fanfic, a first draft, vanity press, whatever.

And it’s real.

I’ve had a copy on my shelf for a while but never bothered reading cause I found the whole angry ensign thing off-putting. So this is actually my first look at some of these passages. They don’t make me feel giddy at all. If you read the mind-meld as a metaphor for sex the rape culture elements are very worrisome… However, I noticed that in several old Spirk fics - those elements of dubcon and even noncon transforming into love. Currently im thinking those elements are refldctions of the homophobic culture of the day. Thoughts anyone?

Things to have in consideration when drawing Michael, Sybok and Spock:

  • If we take Sonequa’s age as a reference, she’s 32yo in Discovery. This means she was born in 2223.
  • Sybok was born in 2224.
  • Spock was born in 2230.
  • So we know that Michael is 1 year older than Sybok and 7 years older than Spock. Sybok is 6 years older than Spock.
  • Spock left when he was 20 to join Starfleet.
  • Sybok left when he was 21 or so to look for the real location of Sha Ka Ree.
  • Michael probably joined Starfleet when she was 18. This means that Spock was 11 at this time, and Sybok was 17.
  • Sybok joined the family when he was 10 more or less (his existence was kept secret from Sarek by T’Rea).
  • We don’t know when Michael was adopted but for what I see in the trailer she looks like 6 yo.
  • So this means that Sarek and Amanda adopter Michael, a year later Spock was born and 4 years later (again, more or less) Sybok joined the family.
  • And the most important of all I-Chaya was still alive.

Add more things if you like.
