What do you think of the "revenge bad" tropes frequently found

it actually pisses me off sooooo much when characters are like "oh but if i hurt or kill the bastard who made my life and others' a living hell i'm just as bad as they are!" like grow up and shoot him what are you catholic

the secret cheat code for women is realizing you dont have to date men

this doesnt just go for lesbians it goes for bi women and straight women too. i cant even count how many times straight women have told me “i wish i was a lesbian so i didnt have to date men” but guess what … u Dont have to date men

to be clear this also isnt necessarily saying ‘go date women instead!!’ its just saying…. u dont have to date men. u dont have to be dating women in order to not date men! in fact if ur not attracted to women at all please dont date women just as a substitute for men. but if dating men isnt making u happy… u dont have to do that. u dont have to make a space in ur life for men

im singlehandedly destroying every mans mental health by telling women its ok to not date them

The Pennsylvania Ballet shared the following Facebook post

“A Facebook user recently commented that the Eagles had “played like they were wearing tutus!!!” Our response: “With all due respect to the Eagles, let’s take a minute to look at what our tutu wearing women have done this month: By tomorrow afternoon, the ballerinas that wear tutus at Pennsylvania Ballet will have performed The Nutcracker 27 times in 21 days. Some of those women have performed the Snow scene and the Waltz of the Flowers without an understudy or second cast. No ‘second string’ to come in and spell them when they needed a break. When they have been sick they have come to the theater, put on make up and costume, smiled and performed. When they have felt an injury in the middle of a show there have been no injury timeouts. They have kept smiling, finished their job, bowed, left the stage, and then dealt with what hurts. Some of these tutu wearers have been tossed into a new position with only a moments notice. That’s like a cornerback being told at halftime that they’re going to play wide receiver for the second half, but they need to make sure that no one can tell they’ve never played wide receiver before. They have done all of this with such artistry and grace that audience after audience has clapped and cheered (no Boo Birds at the Academy) and the Philadelphia Inquirer has said this production looks “better than ever”. So no, the Eagles have not played like they were wearing tutus. If they had, Chip Kelly would still be a head coach and we’d all be looking forward to the playoffs.“ Happy New Year!”

I have a lot of prints left - if you’re interested in buying one PM me here or you can find them in my Etsy Store <3

I’ve had so many completely amorphous, disorganised thoughts about Billy recently. He had two pivotal moments in his life that defined him going forward, both involving the choice to engage in acts of violent revenge. The first leads him to believe he’s unredeemable in his father’s eyes, yet he never seems to contemplate how his outrage at the lack of loyalty and respect he receives when plying his father’s trade might make him more of a disappointment as a son than murder. It makes me wonder if Billy was every moral—if he ever truly cared about fighting imperialism—or if he was more driven by anger over being denied personal respect. On one hand, he does make lots of comments about his brothers and communal safety, but then he abandons those ideals as soon as they community fails to respect his choices. This certainly jives well with the Billy we see in Treasure Island, as a bitter drunkard revelling in his past glory, though the novel also implies that Billy has been rolling with Silver and co. for years—until stealing map after Savannah, which is hard to picture given what happens between Billy, Silver, and Madi.

I don’t know, none of these observations have a point, it’s just been sticking with me a lot lately.

i can’t believe there are people who live in such historically rich places like italy or scotland or greece or paris with old architecture and ruins and museums… the audacity

don’t let western/colonized education trick you into thinking areas like north america, australia, new zealand, etc. are “new” and lacking in rich history just because the indigenous people’s cultures were erased or shoved to the side or destroyed. likewise, try look into more countries than just europe if you love history and travel. the middle east, iran in particular, has some of the most gorgeous islamic architecture which comes from a rich religious history to do with physical depictions of allah. there are gorgeous ruins in central and south america, which are incredible feats of engineering which still blows the minds of historians today. japan has gorgeous art collections to rival that of italy’s renaissance boom. india used to be the pinnacle of science and medicine during their golden age. egypt has some of the oldest historical structures that exist to this day.

i appreciate that you can’t name every single country in one post - i have only scratched the surface with my contributions - but it is very important to remember that there is so much more history than that of central/western europe, since those countries are so often the focus of western media and education
