babygirl I'm parasocialing politicians you've never even heard of
i learned about Tim Wong who successfully and singlehandedly repopulated the rare California Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly in San Francisco. In the past few years, heβs cultivated more than 200 pipevine plants (their only food source) and gives thousands of caterpillars to his local Botanical Garden (x)
Sometimes, people are really great.
This is also an example of picking One Thing and putting most of your Better The World efforts there. We have so many different important issues to care about and act toward, and itβs tempting to try and do a Little for Many Things - and Iβm not saying that little bits of effort donβt add up! They do. But often youβll make a bigger impact (and possibly have less compassion/activist fatigue) if you direct the majority of your efforts toward one or two things.
A brief moment of rationality from the bird place.
Congratulations! You are now a Magic-User!!
"Pretty enough to paint. Too bad I don't have a canvas. Or paints. Or the skills."
Never change, Wyll. Never change.
Dream analysis is probably broadly bunk but it also probably says something about me that I very rarely get nightmares, just uncomfortable dreams, and when I have a dream that otherwise would've been a nightmare, my subconscious is good at coming up with some sort of positive plot twist (like 'it was just a prank bro'). Worst comes to worst I'm usually aware it's a dream. That being said, a recurring problem is that I'll be aware something is a dream, but any attempt to influence the dream in the direction I want it to go (usually related to things like flight or undoing/preventing an event) takes a lot of effort and more often then not ends in failure. Probably the most annoying negative dreams are the ones where I'm trying to wake up, but I keep waking up into another dream (or maybe I partly wake up irl but not the whole way).
