Never use Surfshark VPN
I just wanted to make this post to warn yall about it, I am not a tech genius but I wanted to get a vpn and surfshark was one I knew about so i subscribed to them because it seemed ok, that was where I fucked up.
fast forward a year and now I am trying to cancel my yearly auto-renewing subscription which costs 70 fuckin bucks, didnt find much use in surfshark as it was too laggy when using its vpn services so i go to billing and try to cancel.
there was no cancel button so that was odd, and you cant turn off auto-renew so i figure ill just get rid of my card info so it cant charge me.
i cant or at least i cant figure out how.
I go to help and find the cancellation area after scrolling past why you should keep the subscription and it tells me to contact their live support to cancel, It requires my name and gmail, I know for a fact my gmail is correct but it says its wrong and that my name is wrong no matter how many ways I enter it and I cant find a possible username anywhere on the site i could use. Its for all practical reasons impossible for me to cancel, not just the fact I cant even talk to customer support, but the people on reddit that do, talk to a bot and then the agents take months to actually turn off the subscription so it charges again and there is no refunds.

Ok it's very funny to laugh at Tuxedo Mask for showing up and doing nothing, but his job was never to actually fight the monsters.
His job was just to show up and believe in Sailor Moon so overwhelmingly resolutely that she remembers she's a fucking demigod long enough for HER to fight the monsters.
Because she's the only one strong enough to do it in the first place, and in this regard Tuxedo Mask is the first example of being "Kenough" in this essay I will

One of the things I've always loved about the manga is that it goes into slightly more detail about what Tuxedo Mask's deal even is, and it turns out:
- He has no magic powers at all (except, it later turns out, some healing abilities). He cannot attack youma with sparkles and he does not have a transformation sequence.
- He is having horrible prophetic dreams about how he has to find something called a Silver Crystal to save a princess of some sort.
- He is vaguely conscious that he is wearing Formal Wear in the dreams (as Prince Endymion) and he has to do something to hide his identity so he starts dressing up in a tuxedo and mask when he starts doing Tuxedo Mask Missions. He has to get the tuxedo dry-cleaned between missions.
- ... the Tuxedo Mask Missions are literally jewellery heists because again, initially, the only information he has to go on is "find the sparkly crystal" so he's just like... scouring the news for special-sounding diamonds and hoping.
- Then this amazing girl shows up and she's strong and beautiful and terrified but doing her best and she can ZAP THE MONSTERS with her powers and also she's WEIRDLY FAMILIAR and seems to have more information than he does so he starts trying to figure out where she'll be and turns up there too in case the Silver Crystal is there but then sometimes she's in danger or doubting himself and he can't LEAVE her and and and...
- "I BELIEVE IN YOU SAILOR MOON!"

Hello! I come with some good news! In the EU, a law has been passed restricting generative AIs (particularly ones that pose a high risk). I hope other areas in the world follow suit, but this is huge! It'll take a while to be applied as well, though this is still a major win for everyone.
What this new law means...
AI will be banned from being used for the following purposes:
'Biometric categorisation systems' using sensitive information scraped from images on the internet and CCTV footage.' This means people can't use AI/scraping to create a catalogue for;
- facial recognition databases.
- 'Emotion recognition' in schools and workplaces
- Social scoring systems
- Predictive Policing
- Being designed to manipulate human behaviour
People will gain the right to file complaints regarding AI systems.
AI developers must minimize risk to people, maintain usage logs, ensure transparency, and implement human oversight.
AI models will have to comply with EU copyright law
This means AI devs will HAVE to provide a comprehensive and detailed summary of the data used to train their AI's.
Any AI generated video, image, or audio (including deepfakes) MUST be labelled as such.
This is not in force for at LEAST two years. However it *is* going to become law (with an overwhelming majority of the European Parliament voting in favour, 523 in favour, 46 against, 49 absent.)
This is the first what is likely to be a slew of laws and regulations regarding the usage of AI.
