Just want to check who's following me- we're all incredibly disappointed by the new lord of the rings show right? That's universal? Because the more I find out about what they did to the main characters the more I hate it. And the costumes... They had the movies for inspiration, all the books for something new, and they choose... Bland armor. Short hair. Dwarves without beards. Elves with no flair. They made my boy Elrond an aspiring politician or something when he'd rather be just some guy.

I am fully aware this isn't the usual content I'm just. It's 12:30 at night and I've never been more hurt.

Why… why the FUCK… would you add characters… to the Silmarillion??? The one book… the ONE BOOK ON EARTH that has enough fucking characters

You're telling me THIS-

Is supposed to be an ELF? That's just a guy.

One of the traits of elves is their astonishing beauty and I'm not seeing ANY of that! One of the ways the original Lord of the Rings movies showed their beauty was by having everyone else having super sweaty, dirty hair in all the battles while the elves still had perfect hair. This guy doesn't even have enough hair for an elf and it looks like he just stuck his head in a pile of mud and rolled around. I'm just...

I feel at this point they're just trying to make it more rEaLiStiC by having the elf characters get dirty and having short hair during battles but GUESS WHAT IT'S A FANTASY IT ISN'T REALISTIC ANYWAY! Give me unrealistically and unbelievably perfect-looking elves with perfectly perfect hair in the middle of a great battle! COWARDS!

Not to jump on this post but to add to OP’s point the little snapshots of second age Elrond in the original LOTR films had no problem slapping a bit of realistic grime onto Hugo Weaving and he STILL LOOKS LIKE A MAJESTIC ELF

YES and I know Helms Deep isn't the best example since in the book the elves aren't there BUT look at the elves

Even as Haldir is dying he STILL has clean hair. Yeah, it's a little messed up because he's been fighting for a while ya know but it's still floating in a gentle breeze and being glorious! Look at it!

Now here we get Aragorn, a man, who is grimy and dirty and his hair is as well. You can see all the Men here with dirty hair. But the elves?

Look at Legolas after the battle. Yeah, he's a lil dirty. His hair is slightly messed up. All he really needs to do to have perfect hair again is run his fingers through it. That's all. Because he's an elf and elves are pretty and have pretty hair.

PLEASE let elves remain unrealistic. THEY'RE FANTASY CHARACTERS! They don't even follow the laws of rEaLiStiC physics anyway so why do they have to have rEaLiStiC hair?????
