Dark Magic Kingdom au info

AU where the Disney parks funded and had their Imagineers develop a series of highly advanced walkabout animatronics to allow guests to more authentically meet their favorite characters. Inspired by @disney-android-foundation ‘s AU and the concepts behind the disney parks kinect game and the mobile game Disney Magic Kingdoms

Since I have the ability to envision the company as not a totally soulless corporation in this AU, this implementation didn’t result in all character and mascot actors getting fired. They’re now either on the repair teams, understudies (to take the place of an animatronic if it breaks down) or character handlers (the folks who keep an eye on the animatronics and make sure they A. aren’t left to just break down somewhere, B. don’t wander farther than they’re supposed to, and C. don’t cause trouble for the guests) Character handlers also sometimes have to break up character fights or arguments because they’re all programmed to act and interact with each other very authentically.

However the animatronics were built with Asimov’s first law in mind, so unless something goes REALLY wrong, they’re incapable of intentionally causing physical harm to humans. Some of them will definitely yell at your kids though.

This AU is centered around the villains but there’s hero characters too (princes, princesses, mascots, supporting characters, etc), and I would be happy to talk about them as well if requested.

I’m mostly covering Disney animated movies, but also Pixar films, spin-off cartoons of both, stuff based on the rides (PotC, Haunted Mansion mostly), and Star Wars stuff (though mostly prequel era content because that’s my main area of interest and expertise). I’m not really going to cover Marvel stuff, sorry, I’m just not a big enough MCU nerd. Block criteria is at the bottom (I don't expect everyone to read it, it's just there for like. My stance on things I think matter and an explanation as to if anyone gets blocked and doesn't get why)

Ok I've been gone for a long while because of a few things, one of which being not having muse for this AU anymore. That uh, happens a lot. Idk I'll keep this up but I might just archive it at least unless inspo comes back

Right now the blogs I have actively running are @overworldstims (video game-themed stimboard blog 1st and connected to my video game crossover universe on the side that I have yet to actually write about)

@huggable-and-loveable (plushie appreciation blog is still active)

And @the-13th-rose (Main, also where you can ask about the stuff I'm writing). Warring Evils AU has moved to that blog (sorry for deleting it without notice, it was on impulse). It's now actually being developed into a story. My writing's accessible on Ao3 now (I stopped writing on tumblr because it got barely any attention here, people just are not on tumblr to read), under author name the13throse. Warring Evils has undergone quite a few changes in this final version but I'm finally happy with the roster and plot and can confidently move forward.

Also I uh graduated college! I don’t know yet what life has in store for me, but I hope I can make the most of it.

anyway im tired of people treating Disney (corporate) and Disney (writing and directing staff) as a monolith. yes Disney (corporate) funds massive anti gay legislature. yes Disney (corporate) only recognizes demographics in terms of how much profit they can bring. but trans guy in Baymax isn't an evil trap put there by the shareholders to draw in queers and wring us of money. the trans guy in Baymax exists because in the writing room a bunch of storyboarders and storytellers were spitballing "hey, what people do we need here?" and one of the answers that came up was "trans guy" from a person who sincerely believed that representation was not only valuable but necessary. there are real people making every choice you see and hear. you can hate how corporate feigns blasé without assuming it's all some premeditated plan. you can be rightfully suspicious of corporate motivation without erasing the artists with their own motivations

If you are thinking of Disney employees like you think of doctor evil's faceless henchmen you might need a reality check.

I hate having posts go viral, all these fuckers who've never interacted with me before putting my silly post on their "men bad" and "everyone but me is a dirty faker" blogs GO AWAY! GO AWAY!

Anyway I'm deleting the original so I'll hopefully stop getting notifications for it, I can’t stand much more of the psychic damage from these absolutely ice cold takes.

I mean I don't like using dni banners and I don't think they really work but it's not great getting the feeling that these folks think you’re one of them. I don’t want to keep going off-topic with this blog because I usually do not do that off of my main but I'm not sure how to establish my feelings without going off topic. I think if I made an on-topic post about it it would just feel cheesy and insincere.

This is why a lot of people stop using social media.

I consider myself fortunate that I've only ever had to block one person for blatant fandom racism like that but I know for a fact there's more folks like them. I don’t have the time or energy to extensively inspect everyone who interacts with me (and I'm less likely to spot more subtle examples due to my own lack of experience) but if I see you doing shit like that or if you try to come to me with some rant about how "x is terrible and deserves death but not like my poor little meow meow y who has never done anything wrong actually" I do not want to hear it, you will not be permitted to "debate" with me over it, I want you to leave and think very critically about what you said.

Less seriously, "my poor little meow meow did nothing wrong" when said completely without irony is a saying that pisses me off extensively, as a villain fan. If you’re being ironic about it, that's different, as an ironic statement it's just kind of overused. But if you're genuinely in the defense of a villain to the point where you will adamantly and viciously proclaim they’re some perfect paragon of morality, not only are you being a major dick to other people, you're insulting the writing and only further perpetuating the idea that it is only morally okay to like a character if they have no flaws. Folks who do this are no better in my eyes than the folks who attack others for being fans of villains.

I feel like the followers of this blog are generally pretty good about not doing this. I can’t recall getting a message resembling the example from any of you. So that makes me believe that you all actually get it and understand nuance in fiction. Please don't prove me wrong. Be on the lookout for stuff like the first paragraph and the example in the last reblog in your own circles too. Don't let that stuff seem welcome if you can help it. Villains are for everyone, and liking evil in a story shouldn't mean being evil for real.

Hey. If you reblog this with any variation of "EXCEPT FOR--" or "op must be a weirdo" YOU’RE THE SECOND PIC. YOU’RE EXACTLY WHO I'M FUCKING TALKING ABOUT.

You are not immune to being a hypocrite about villains.
