how to find literally any post on a blog in seconds (on desktop)

there are so many posts about ~tumblr is so broken, you can’t find any post on your own blog, it’s impossible, bluhrblub~

I am here to tell you otherwise! it is in fact INCREDIBLY easy to find a post on a blog if you’re on desktop/browser and you know what you’re doing:

  • url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant. every single post, every single time. in chronological order starting with the most recent post. note: it will not find #croissants or that time you made the typo #croidnssants. for a tag with multiple words, it’s just /tagged/my-croissant and it will show you everything with the exact phrase #my croissant
  • url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant/chrono will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the exact phrase #croissant, but it will show them in reverse order with the oldest first
  • url.tumblr.com/search/croissant isn’t as perfect at finding everything, but it’s generally loads better than the search on mobile. it will find a good array of posts that have the word croissant in them somewhere. could be in the body of the post (op captioned it “look at my croissant”) or in the tags (#man I want a croissant). it won’t necessarily find EVERYTHING like /tagged/ does, but I find it’s still more reliable than search on mobile. you can sometimes even find posts by a specific user by searching their url. also, unlike whatever random assortment tumblr mobile pulls up, it will still show them in a more logically chronological order
  • url.tumblr.com/day/2020/11/05 will show you every post on the blog from november 5th, 2020, in case you’re taking a break from croissants to look for destiel election memes
  • url.tumblr.com/archive/ is search paradise. easily go to a particular month and see all posts as thumbnails! search by post type! search by tags but as thumbnails now
  • url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio will show you every audio post on your blog (you can also filter by other post types). sometimes a little imperfect if you’re looking for a video when the op embedded the video in a text post instead of posting as a video post, etc
  • url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/croissant will show you EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant, but it will show you them in the archive thumbnail view divided by months. very useful if you’re looking for a specific picture of a croissant that was reblogged 6 months ago and want to be able to scan for it quickly
  • url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio/tagged/croissant will show you every audio post tagged with the specific phrase #croissant (you can also filter by photo or text instead, because I don’t know why you have audio posts tagged croissant)

the tag system on desktop tumblr is GENUINELY amazing for searching within a specific blog!

caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (or “custom theme”) enabled. a “custom theme” is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. I’ve heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme where you can use all those neat url tricks.

if the person doesn’t have a “custom theme” enabled, you’re beholden to the search bar. still, I’ve found the search bar on tumblr.com/url is WAY more reliable than search on mobile. for starters, it tends to bring posts up in a sensible order, instead of dredging up random posts from 2013 before anything else

if you’re on mobile, I’m sorry. godspeed and good luck finding anything. (my one tip is that if you’re able to click ON a tag rather than go through the search bar, you’ll have better luck. if your mutual has recently reblogged a post tagged #croissant, you can click #croissant and it’ll bring up everything tagged #croissant just like /tagged/croissant. but if there’s no readily available tag to click on, you have to rely on the mobile search bar and its weird bizarre whims)

the archive/tagged trick is a lifesaver!!

a caveat on op’s caveat is that if your blog/the blog you want to search is older than [whenever they forced everybody into the tumblr.com/user change], most of these tricks will still work whether or not they have enabled “custom theme.”

tumblr works it’s just a closely guarded secret

Oh.

To call WT's actions "antics" would be reducing the severity of what they're doing to creators. This is unacceptable behavior and it should be all the more reason for creators to start exploring other career paths outside of WT. For years they've been meticulously crafting an environment where people believe that WT is the only path to success, where WT controls the degree of success creators can achieve, from the manipulation of the promotional system to the lack of tagging and proper search functions on the app. Now that they've boiled the frog to this point, they're cashing out by flooding the platform with cheap imports, implementing AI tools, and of course, trying to use their contracts as a way to trap creators and keep them from owning their own IP's and maximizing on their own success.

I said it before and I'll say it again - Webtoons is planning to go public with their IPO this summer, so it would be a real shame if creators spoke up about the underhanded tactics used by WT to keep them from finding success in their own works. At the very least, it should serve as a reminder to all of us that companies like these can't amass billions without exploiting people along the way.

We can't even use "they're creating jobs for comic creators" as a reason to want to see WT succeed in spite of their flaws anymore because they're literally ruining people's careers, cutting them off before they've even started. That's not the platform being "flawed", that's the platform and the system it's built on being broken, full stop.

No beef with anybody who still uses WT (we all gotta eat) but just a heads up, and a reminder to always retain 100% owership of your IP

DeviantArt used to be the place I put new poses up three times a week. It was the best place to get consistent updates of new poses from me.

BUT NOW! I have a self-hosted gallery on AdorkaStock.com 🥰 It's a WIP (and there's a lot of work to do) but I like having my poses on my own site. 😌

You can sign up for my newsletter and get an email digest of new poses each week or once a month so you don't have to always remember to go check for what's new. My long term goal is to have this gallery completely replace my DA archive. Reasons for this move include: - DA's enthusiastic support for AI - DA removing categories making it nearly impossible to search for CC licensed images - not being beholden to DA's future random TOS and API changes

Your support helps with this goal. ♥ Ways to support: - Share my work with other artists! - Support me on Patreon for just $1/mo - Shop my Kofi store for pose ref packs and merch Get all my links at my Link Hub. 🥰 Thanks so much for your support and happy drawing!

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????

I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.

Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

Saw a sharp increase in my follower count after posting this. The legitimacy of it is driving me nuts so I also feel the need to say that you can follow anyone on here regardless of whether you’ve interacted with them or not. People like the above mentioned blog are exceptions. Perhaps they themselves think they aren’t and therefore will act like they aren’t, but they are, trust me.

Just follow anyone you wanna follow. The worst thing that can happen is maybe getting soft-blocked by the other person, but if they do soft-block you, then they were never that worth following in the first place.

this is tumblr dot com

you follow whomever

you shitpost whatever

if you have coin, you blaze that shitpost all over peoples faces

you boop sometimes when the powers that be give you a button

you share news via supernatural memes

and you thrive in your refreshing, rejuvenating space all hand-cultivated and curated by you

(the corollary is you also unfollow and/or block blogs that do not make you vibe, and then you continue to flourish)

You guys rlly don't realise how much knowledge is still not committed to the internet. I find books all the time with stuff that is impossible to find through a search engine- most people do not put their magnum opus research online for free and the more niche a skill is the less likely you are to have people who will leak those books online. (Nevermind all the books written prior to the internet that have knowledge that is not considered "relevant" enough to digitise).

Whenever people say that we r growing up with all the world's knowledge at our fingertips...it's not necessarily true. Is the amount of knowledge online potentially infinite? Yes. Is it all knowledge? No. You will be surprised at the niche things you can discover at a local archive or library.

A Lotura art print for your soul, hand-embellished with metallic gold foil. A couple of years ago, when I discovered Voltron: Legendary Defender, little did I know I’d be making art of this beautiful pair of space elves with so much passion 💖 How did VLD impact your life? When the VLD fandom was beginning to quiet down, I was just learning about it. But there are still a few of us left around that enjoy our Lotura corner. Lotor and Allura waltzing among galaxies had me all dreamy and inspired me to draw this artwork. So I’m here for y’all with a rather crazy, detailed gold foil manual labor that I decided to pursue (I love sparkly things 🤩, I’m sure many of you do too, but the amount of sparkles I sprinkled on this one is insane and I may have lost my mind and my eyesight a bit when working on applying the gold leaf). ✨ I could have chosen again a foil printing service, but I decided to have it the old-fashioned way because nothing can beat the brilliant colors of giclée prints on archival paper and some hand-applied foil (I’m a bit crazy about giclées, small confession). This giclée is printed on a 11x14” (28 x 35.5 cm) watercolor bright white archival paper, with Canon Lucia inks and hand-embellished with Schabin composition leaf. Here is the link to my Ko-fi listing. *** Since this is a labor-intensive artwork (the magnifying glass is my friend), it’s going to be a PRE-ORDER listing, so I can have time to properly gild each art print. I’ll keep the pre-order open for a week or more depending on the demand, and post updates for you here when I close it. ***Keep an eye out for my Plance Dance giclee print coming soon, also covered in sparkles.

no one probably cares but as wii u and 3ds modding (especially wii u) is my area of expertise (haha weird silly obsessions go brrrrrr) im gonna add some stuff here. 1. this is *not* time sensitive as far as im concerned. for wii u both dnspresso and the traditional web browser exploit DO NOT require nintendo's servers, only a working internet connection, which you will still have even after the servers shut down. the servers are shutting down, not the wifi module in your console (contrary to popular belief). iirc to mod a new 3ds you just need to do a camera exploit, which similarly shouldnt require nintendo's official servers. can't remember about old 3ds tho. 2. there ARE custom servers in the making!!! https://pretendo.network have been working on reviving the nintendo network servers for years now, and for the next few months they'll need as much support as they can get because the real servers will no longer be alive to reverse engineer from. it's for both wii u and 3ds. 3. modding does *not* impose any risks on your console, as long as you follow these specific written guides sent by the lovely op. video guides can be outdated with new developments in the homebrew scene and so it often causes problems for people doing tech support (such as myself) when the whole issue was an outdated file linked in the description. these written guides are regularly updated. trust me, im a disaster and i didnt brick either of my consoles. also, modding != piracy!! modding enables piracy but theres a flourishing modding community outside of piracy too :] 4. stop reading my stupid reblog and go mod your consoles (after youve bought an sd card or 2 that is - preferably go for 128gb formatted as fat32 - use guiformat for this)!!!! ill add more stuff if i remember but thats it for now

however while the servers are still up, you can download wii u games for free! their servers are entirely unencrypted you can just. do that. on wii u it's nusspli (not lite) and on pc for cemu it's wii u downloader. they're shutting down like in a few days so it's fine to talk about it publically
