My feelings about Vulcans perfectly summed up - especially with the context that they actually feel things even more deeply than humans do, and than Surak’s philosophy was literally what saved their entire civilization from violently destroying itself.

I really have issues with the typical narrative of ‘oh, they’re not gushing emotions all over the place, this is toxic and repressed.’ Sure some Vulcans have huge issues. Some humans too - humans who do let themselves feel a lot of stuff, and then refuse to talk about it anyway, unlike here where the source of fear is dissected and analyzed, leading to reassurance.

If people find value in a philosophy that is not harmful to anyone around them and actively discourages violence, pettiness, deceit, unfairness/injustice and pointless conflict, then why would you deem it wrong?

I’ve seen Tuvok be called the most boring Vulcan - because what, he was perfectly healthy, balanced, and he didn’t constantly butt heads with his human Captain and bff? Because he was a good husband, a good officer, an excellent friend, and presumably a good father? What’s boring about being great?

The thing about the r slur is that people who are using it again are indeed using it as a slur. This isn't a word that is being reclaimed. This is a word that is once again being used 100% as a slur. You're being a bigot if you're using it against others. Straight up. There isn't another argument to be made. Knock it tf off.

It's actually crazy talking to friends and relatives about what's going on because very few of them know that this is a retaliatory attack. I keep seeing people online call the attack unprovoked too.

So those who don't know, on April 1st Israeli warplanes bombed Iran's consulate in Damascus. The attack killed 7 of Iran’s military advisers including 3 senior commanders.

This attack on the embassy is against international law. Embassies are protected sites. But instead of condemning the attack and putting pressure on Israel, the US has spent the past week and a half calling West Asian countries to put pressure on Iran, with Biden going as far as to warn Iran not to attack Israel and saying that his support for Israel is 'iron clad'.

The West, the UN, and UN Security Council have largely failed to condemn the attack which means Iran has no choice but to retaliate with force in order to prevent future attacks. Otherwise, the country will look vulnerable and weak, especially to the Israeli occupation government which has spent months bombing neighbouring countries like Syria and Lebanon

The amount of news sites I've seen do everything they can to not explicitly say Israel attacked the Iranian consulate is insane. Unsurprisingly they're all the ones who either subtly pushed the narrative that Israel is defending itself or outright said that Israel is entitled to self-defense.
