Rhaenyra is seen as a cruel and terrible person when she didn't shed a drop of her siblings blood, didn't like fighting, and spared her evil stepmother who made her miserable for years and spoke disrespectfully about Rhaenyra's dead sons. I'm willing to bet that Alicent would never have shown such leniency towards Rhaenyra (Alicent offered to cripple and then wanted to kill an innocent ten-year-old boy just because he was Rhaenyra's son).

Or how Rhaenyra is condemned for raising taxes to replenish the treasury stolen by the greens, but when Aegon, during martial law, wants to build two golden statues for two brutal mass murderers, his fans praise him.

it hurts when people say rhaenyra never got a daughter bc rhaena and baela were right there ☹️

It's just that we know that she would have wanted a biological daughter that she would have named Visenya. And it's sad that she didn't get it.

But no one says that Baela and Rhaena are not his daughters. They are. The only girls she will ever have in her life.

I will add that in addition, in the book, she recovers them very very young, to the point that I doubt that they must have retained real memories of Laena unlike in the show. Laena may give birth to them in book, but Rhaenyra educates them. Especially since she's known them since they were babies, since Daemon & Laena returned to Westeros some time after the girls' birth and Rhaenyra started hanging out with them. Rhaenyra has known the twins since they were babies and ended up raising them and becoming their only true mother figure.

For me, they are his daughters.
