ADHD, Relationships, and Boredom

When you have ADHD, navigating relationships can be really hard.
Most relationships go through a honeymoon period that can last between 6 months and 2 years. After that, they start to mellow out and the long term love chemical in the brain begins to kick in.
For those with ADHD, a new relationship is exciting and gives us constant dopamine hits that our brain lacks. We want to be around that person all of the time because of that. So when that phase wears off and the relationship becomes more predictable and stable, those with ADHD will get bored and might break off the relationship or doubt their feelings.
That is because our brains also struggle with oxytocin, the long term love hormone. The struggle then is to not do something impulsive to ruin the relationship or friendship. We have to stick out the apathy and boredom you might feel towards them for the oxytocin to start to kick in.
According to this tiktok, once the oxytocin does come into effect, it can make ADHD really clingy and possessive because the oxytocin keeps giving us a dopamine hit.

Love getting nuked for existing ✌🏻 But I also think part of it comes down to how you view love and relationships because it'd be interesting to see the parallel NT stats on that ie how different it really is in that sense
