Is it just me or is it really, really sad that when he is close to dying out of nowhere he thinks it’s Megatron doing that? Thinking he is safe and suddenly being “attacked”?  And look, he’s not even stating that it’s Megatron doing that to him. He’s asking. As if he needs Megatron himself to tell him what’s happening and why it is happening this time.

Hey everyone! I have applied to run two panels at @iacononline and they informed me I should start trying to recruit co-panelists now.

So my first panel is going to he on abuse/trauma representation in transformers. If you know me then you know that I, specifically, have written an essay and dug into Starscream's abuse, how that is represented, how that shapes his character, and how that impacts viewers. For this panel I would really like to dig into different character themes of trauma and abuse with other characters too. I would like to find 2 or 3 other panelists, each picking a different character, to really explore and talk about to show how abuse/trauma is represented in Transformers media, how that shapes those characters, and again, how that impacts viewers. My second panel is on self-insert writings in transformers. For this I'd like to get together a group of writers and ask blogs that do Self/reader-Inert prompts and headcanons to talk about it and read some of their favorite self/reader-inserts. I just think it would be totally fun. My summary was: Self/reader-Insert fic writers and Ask blogs come together to discuss what they do, why they do it, and do (like headcanon) improv with the audience. I will personally be reaching out to some blogs I know, but I'd this is something you're interested in too, please DM me or drop in a ask.

I'm thinking about submitting MAYBE one more panel on, like, what makes a good or bad TF OC. But I'm not sure about this one. Hit me up if that suits your fancy and I'll submit it.

Transformers Prime is basically what would’ve happened if in Avatar: The Last Airbander if Ozai got redeemed instead of Zuko…

as a Starscream fan, i feel like the portrayal of his abuse has… only gotten worse in recent adaptions?

like… if we look at G1, we can tell that the cartoon does not go out of its way to represent Megatron’s (and a few others) mistreatment of Starscream as abusive, controlling, or similar. and it was probably not their intent at all (because really, it’s a Saturday morning cartoon made to sell toys), so they just balanced out the dynamic by making Starscream outwardly power-hungry, greedy, vengeful, and “just as bad as Megatron”.

and although it still isn’t okay, it wasn’t as much fetishization of their dynamic as much as just a reoccuring joke of “Starscream tries to usurp Megatron, Megatron beats him”. it’s obvious that the way Megatron treats Starscream affects him heavily by the behaviors he displays, but it wasn’t really intended to be seen as such. 

but much of the fandom rightfully found the treatment of Starscream (as a character generally) to be unfair, and thought that the abuse he endured being swept under the rug further damaged his potential as a character, as the writers for the shows and comics couldn’t see how the way others treat him is awful and affects him deeply. Agreed! I thought that too - why not use the concept of being “unworthy” of the Dark Star Saber to explore his potential for true worthiness, so he can learn what that means instead of trying the meet the warped standards Megatron pounded into him? Oh yeah, because the writers probably never thought about it and don’t care about him or his development. Now that he’s gotten his rampage out of his system, can he please have someone help him or guide him because he’s obviously hurting and desperate, and the Autobots know it! They used his pain to thwart him, now they need to help him move past it and heal like everyone else had a chance to do.
