This is one of the mystery. The whole publishing a book is a nod to Solomon's VA actually publishing his own books about fish. And yet they made Solomon's character dislike the ocean.

I could make the assumption and say that he might have a fear of being in the ocean in general. Like imagine you being alone in the open sea a void you don't see anything but a whole ocean.
