09/02/2021 The snow is so peaceful so I've moved all of my desk bits to face the window. I had a crazy busy day yesterday but hopefully that makes today easier. I'm missing my boyfriend a lot today, we had the best snow days when we weren't long distance. X Emily

anyone else in the sf bay area dealing with this ridiculous heat?! on top of that, the other night there was this gnarly thunderstorm like nothing i’d ever seen. i think that if it weren’t so hot (and if it didn’t happen from freakin’ 4 to 8 a.m.), i would’ve enjoyed it more. i was actually pretty freaked out lmao. weather events like that are an anomaly in california, probably akin to earthquakes happening on the east coast, so everyone makes a big to-do about it. there’s also a lot of concern since it’s the beginning of wildfire season here, and the lightning already hasn’t made it any easier. :-(

in other news, it’s been so hot that i’ve been seriously unmotivated to sit and be productive… i’ve been mostly sitting in front of the AC and eating a ton of ice cream. :x but! i have been making incremental progress teaching myself japanese for the past few weeks. it’s slow-going and my handwriting and kanji definitely need work, but i’m having a lot of fun with it so far. any other japanese beginners out there?! :D

19.08.2020 / You guys must be tired of these pictures of my handwritten notes because they all look the same but I swear they are different lmao I signed up as an audit student in a post-graduation class about modern and contemporary documentary and it started today! I’m super excited to be back to class, even tho it’s online and only once a week. Documentary is probably my favorite study subject and I think the class will be great to help me structure my PhD project.

tbh the real advice I’d give to anyone is, do shit alone. go to a museum & go at your own pace & leave the instant you’re done. go somewhere you’ve never been and just wander around, duck into & out of places as it pleases you. linger as long as you’d like.
