I've been on a Mass Effect kick for the last two months. Played the whole trilogy for the first time and enjoyed it very much. So much I took a look around to see what was available on the CC scene.

Found some Asari hairs by earendil, ME: Andromeda Asari and Aria T"Loak markings by @berrynooboos, those alien speckles Petchy separated from fantasyrogue's skintone, and voleste's separated, layerable version of those speckles.

I've recolored them all in @futilefairytale's patisserie palette to match BerryNooBoos' Andromeda markings. There are white recolors of the Andromeda Asari markings I've made too. I've also made 3 lip colors in the same palette and speckled Asari hairs. There's also a purple schlera too look nice with your blue/purple Asari girls.

Fully speckled "hair." One is more opaque, and one is less opaque. Less opaque only comes in white. It's meant to look like the skin is lighter in those spots like you see on some Asari.

Partial Speckles. Simple, but effective. Hairs come in all ages, female only.

Lips.

Swatch included, labeled preview pics included, individual folders for everything, and hair mesh is included. The only thing that doesn't have it's own preview is the purple schlera, as you can see it in every picture here! All of this can be found in the makeup and costume makeup sections.

accountability update/Best Practice Preview

Making the charts and graphs to finally make it clear how ridiculous we all are is taking a bit more time than expected because there is a subset of users that both does and doesn't have pink flashing, and since all insights happen at the margins, I have to dig into this a bit more. Release now expected the first weekend in February.

But: as proof I'm moving along, here's a title card, and the simplest main takeaway from the survey:

IF YOU HAVE "uint LotSkirtIncrease" in your userstartup.cheat, you can safely delete it to help reduce pink flashing.

Explanation: "uint LotSkirtIncrease 36" is equivalent to the in-game "Lot View Distance Extra Large" setting. It was previously thought that it was needed to turn this up to 120 in order to see neighborhood horizons in lot view but is not true (or not true anymore). If your horizon is blinking in or out when your game camera moves, it is not from view distance, it is from graphical glitching - same as if you've ever noticed the reflections momentarily not lining up in Voeille's water when you change the angle.

Having a LotSkirtIncrease over 50 SUBSTANTIALLY burdens the game at a critical stress point: loading any lot. It also overrides your in-game setting so if you were under the impression your setting was Small, Medium, or Large (and some of you were), it was actually Extra-Extra-Extra-Large unless you manually changed it after entering the lot.

Corollary: THE BEST PRACTICE FOR LOT LOADING, i.e., the Lot View Settings Juggling Method (LVSJM)

If you are prone to pink flashing, you should always exit lots (including when you exit the game) with Lot View Distance set to "Small" and Neighbors turned "Off." You may want to save with the game camera zoomed in as far as possible.

When you load a lot and have ascertained it is stable (you can pan the camera without any hiccups/lag/crashing), after 30 seconds, you can turn neighbors back on. 30 seconds later, you can start incrementally turning up the Lot View Distance.

Credit for this tip goes to the users who gave a hot tip on the survey that they only turn Neighbors on for screenshots (they will be named in the final report). We are often prone to thinking of those settings as something static, that we set and forget, but if we treat them as dynamic we can definitely manipulate them to our advantage.

Remember, after playing the lot - OR WHEN YOUR SIMS TRAVEL FROM THE LOT - you should turn the Lot View settings back down and manually save BEFORE the game closes the lot.

IF YOU STILL HAVE PINK FLASHING ON FIRST LOT LOAD/HOOD EXIT, there is further help for you coming in the report, but I don't have time to write it all up now. It's not not complicated but I went from total pink every hood load to virtually none (though I am not immune to crashing) using a combination of all the best practices I will be recommending in the report, and other users saw improvement to overall play session quality and length as well.

I've been meaning to do this for a while now! I'm not long for 100 followers and I want to show appreciation for those who have followed, reblogged, downloaded the stuff I'v uploaded, have been supportive and helpful!

The goods: jgwhiteus' Glow in the dark wall panel recolored and templated in space and hippy themes! Riekus13's alien neon sign on DOT's neon sign base, and three neon signs on DOT's neon sign base by me! They are two cacti and a weed leaf!

Included are DOT's base neon sign, jg's base glow in the dark wall, a swatch, and previews of each template.

PSA: The Pink Flashing Experience Survey is STILL ACCEPTING RESPONSES!

If you already participated, thank you so, so much. The survey has been revised as of mid-November to add more questions and will now probably take at least 30 minutes to complete in full. It is detailed. You should not attempt to complete it on mobile away from your simming computer.

The survey is for ALL TS2 players, whether you have pink flashing in your game or not.

I now anticipate releasing the analysis report in early January 2024. For your data to meaningfully contribute to this analysis, a response deadline of December 15, 2023 is being established.

DM me if you already took the original survey, want to answer the additional (follow-up) questions, and haven't already heard from me.

🌴Lowedeus' Neighbourhood Skies optimised (reduced texture sizes)🌴

(cleaning my desktop up and want to post this, sorry for the lame preview but i cba lol)

so this is an optimisation of those hood skies by lowedeus. if you encounter pink flashing, then these are for you! these skies are often listed in sims 2 starter packs and not many people realise how much of a toll it has on your game, being at 4k texture sizes. they are a staple for the game tho so thats why i optimised it

a general disclaimer is that if you use custom skies and horizon mods, they are one of the biggest offenders of pink flashing as those use HUGE texture sizes!!

all i did here was shrink the textures to some better sizes, like 1024x512 and 512x512 (the texture sizes here were different so thats why they're not the same)

it will overwrite the original files (these wont work with the others)

Bowling Balls by Color Traits

Another collab with ingenious @pforestsims! This mod makes the bowling ball appear in the player's favorite color if they have a favorite color trait in their inventory. If the player has more than one favorite color, the alphabetically highest will rule the color.

All bowling lanes start with a black ball but the color will change if the sims playing have favorite colors. Sims without a favorite color will use the black ball.

There are lighter and darker sets of colors for the balls to choose from, you can only have one version at a time. We also replaced the bowling ball accessory mesh with a smoother version.

Download (SFS) (alternate) - the files are compressed.

Easy Inventory Check is required and Nightlife EP is too. Conflicts with other bowling ball replacements but is fine to use with replacements for the bowling alley as long as they don't include the ball TXMT (pforest has shared such).

Technical info: the new ball mesh is 528 polys, it only replaces the accessory ball that sims lift up and throw. We added tiny 64x64 textures for most ball colors.

♪♫♪♫ Well, well, well, what have we here? ♪♫♪♫

It's Glow Up, part 2: Recolored, glowing Princess Bliss tapestries, A Sim Noir Print, and the lips couch!

I actually made these BEFORE I released part one of Glow Up! These were my first time making something glow on my own as opposed to using an already glowing template! They needed cleaned up and organized. Plus, I had a mighty need to see what else I could make glow!

They're a good mix of trippy, space, and spooky:

Preview pics of everything included, Tapestry meshes included, the couches are cloth recolors only. I'd only ever use a black base on these and there's plenty of base recolors out there. There's pictures for where the tapestries are located in game too. Swatch is also included for couches. The swatch colors are what they look like without glow though. I think they look pretty good in game though.

tiny plantsim content dump

hi! long time no cc!

so today i have for you a few pieces specifically for plantsims, but that can be used on normal sims as well. these include xiasimla's cactus buns recolored and enabled for adult males, some flower eyes based on my cactus default's eye texture, and some flower lashes originally by nx0817 on peggy's eyelash mesh and an f2m version i found on gos by yagi.

i recolored the cactus to be a more rich green and made eight flower recolors that match the subsequent flower eyes. i didn't make a swatch, but you can look at the flower eyes swatch to get a general idea. i converted these for adult males as well, as it was only as easy as changing a 1 to a 3 in simpe.

these are based on my handpainted textures from my cactus plantsim. i made them more symmetrical and they come in custom and gen/town versions.

last but certainly not least, i made some recolors of nx0817's flower lashes. i added the flower texture to the bottom lash line as well and added some small petals to the cheeks. these come in eight colorful options, some of which are multicolor.
